These meets cannot happen without our volunteers. Each family is required to volunteer at least 3 times throughout the season. When you volunteer, you meet other parents and swimmers, you're up close to all the action, and you learn more about competitive swimming. We promise you will still be able to watch your children swim! Sign up for volunteer positions through our website under the Events tab or the OnDeck app.

Volunteer Job Descriptions

Announcer: Announce the meet in accordance with the Heat Sheet. Home meets only.

Scorer: Score the meet and maintain an on-going reconciliation with the scorer from the opposing team. Home and away meets.

Sideline Judge: Sits perpendicular to the finish line. In the case of a close race, the sideline judge will have the final call. Home and away meets.

Awards: Hands out ribbons in exchange for place cards. Every child in every heat receives a ribbon. Home meets only.

Place Judges: Stands perpendicular to the finish line rather than over the lanes. Three judges from each team (host team has odd numbers, visiting team has even numbers). Give place cards to swimmers at end of heat according to their place. Home and away meets.

Timers: Stands at the finish line (host club has odd lanes, visiting club has even lanes). Times each race on stopwatch and manually records swimmer's' time on heat sheet. Home and away meets.

Clerk of Course: Directs swimmers to the correct starting block or chair behind the starting block in the lane where they will be swimming. Assists coaches in organizing swimmers for relays. Home and away meets.

Runner: Takes place cards from the awards table back to the place judges. Takes DQ sheets from Stroke & Turn Judges to the scorer's
table. Home meets only.
