By Lori Fisher The Maple Grove boys swim and dive team’s season is now approaching sections and state after the team had an undefeated regular season. The boys lost to Spring Lake Park in the Northwest Suburban Conference Championship, but are now getting ready for the junior varsity conference tournament at Northdale Middle School Saturday, Feb. 12. By Lori Fisher The Maple Grove boys swim and dive team remains undefeated after beating Anoka last Thursday at home. This follows wins against Andover, Park Center, and Blaine. On Saturday, after scoring a wildcard spot, half of the team took part in the State True Team meet, held at the University of Minnesota. Maple Grove took 10th place out of 12 teams from across Minnesota. This event shows the depth of the team and gives all swimmers the opportunity to score points for the team. Read Full Article

By Lori Fisher The Maple Grove boys swim and dive team, thanks to scoring a wildcard spot, took second at the Section 5AA True Team meet last Saturday in Spring Lake Park. Among some of the top events, junior Gerrit Riekels took first in the 100-yard butterfly and 100-yard backstroke. Senior captain T.J. Palli took first in the 100-yard freestyle and junior Logan Cyr came out on top for the 500-yard freestyle. Both the Maple Grove Crimson and the Coon Rapids Cardinals were undefeated going into the dual meet on Feb. 27. It was a tight scoring meet in which the Crimson were leading by 7 points before the last race in which 14 points were up for grabs. Winning first place and third place in that final event allowed the Crimson to earn the win 99 to 86 and kept their undefeated season going. Read Full Article
