Lightning Bolt Swim Team

The Lightning Bolt Swim Team is focused on developing an interest in swimming from a competitive angle. The goal is to provide swimmers with the foundation of proficiency in all four strokes. All we ask is that swimmers be able to swim a single length of the poolprior to beginning the season.

8 & under swimmers:

Swimmers in this group have proven that they are "Water Safe" and are able to get down the length of the lap pool without stopping or requiring assistance. The focus of this group is teaching. We want each child to get a great set of fundamentals that will cross over into whatever direction they choose to take their swimming experience. Participation in meets is highly encouraged.

  • Swimmers in this group are expected to be "Water Safe"
  • Each swimmer must demonstrate the ability to swim down the lap lane without any assistance or interruption.
  • Meet participationis highly encouraged. Skills learned are judged through competition. Not necessarily by time, but by how they learn to apply their technique to their race.
  • Swimmers in this group are able to pay attention and get involved in practice

9 & over swimmers:

Swimmers in this group will be getting ready for competition in meets. The goal of this group is to refine and teach all four competitive strokes rather than focus solely on building a stroke. Each swimmer will learn aspects of swimming that will help them transition into a competitive swim program. Swimmers in this group are expected to follow instruction and put feedback into practice. The goal is to try and maintain an enjoyable atmosphere while providing a competitive experience.

  • At least 3 practices per week are recommended.
  • Participation in meets is highly encouraged.
  • Swimmers are encouraged to come out of their comfort zone and embrace learning new skills
  • Each child must be able to swim safely down the length of the pool
  • Swimmers will learn how to read a pace clock and become "Self Sufficient" in practice.

Swim Meets

Meet participation is highly encouraged. Meets are how progress is gauged with respect to practice. Meets are also where the team comes together to maximize a positive experience for each child. The Lightning Bolt Swim Program is designed to foster a competitive atmosphere through swimming and give each child a sport they can call their own. Meets are an essential tool for the main objective.

ADDITIONAL PRECAUTIONS
We will be following all local, state, and USA Swimming guidelines for coronavirus precautions as it is
appropriate at the time. Social spacing will be encouraged out of the water and during swim meets.
