Marinwood Waterdevils Meet Summary

The Sleepy Hollow Sea Lions faced off with the Marinwood Waterdevils at Saturday’s toasty meet in Marinwood. The Waterdevils proved fun hosts, who treated the Sea Lions to a halftime pool dance. The warm weather meant fast times for our Sea Lions, who broke records, qualified for All Stars, and achieved a staggering 285 best times! Cameron Karimi (Boys 11-12) and Reid Skelton (Boys 11-12) both qualified for All Stars for the first time in their 50Y Freestyle and 50Y Backstroke, respectively. Baxter Dixon (Boys 11-12) had a very fast day, improving his times on the Top Ten leaderboard and breaking the Marinwood Pool records in both his 50Y Breaststroke (32.06) and the 100Y I.M. (1:05.27). Incredible, Baxter! Maeve Kastner moved up the leaderboard from 8th to 7th in her 50Y Butterfly with a time of 29.21. Fun Committee Updates

Friday, June 27: Pups Meet & Pancake Breakfast
While the team has been practicing and racing this season, we have little future Sea Lions just starting out through the Pups program. On Friday, June 27 we get to see all of the Pups’ hard work pay off at their very own home meet where they race each other and get a little sense of what these Sea Lion meets are all about. Come to the pool and support our soon to be Sea Lions at this adorable and special event! We can cheer on these Pups as they swim and race each other. Come enjoy the last day of the season with pancakes, followed by a lot of cheering for this year's Pups. Breakfast is served for the 10 & Unders starting at 8:00 AM, followed by the 11 & Ups at 8:30 AM. The Pups meet starts at 9:00 AM. There is no SHST practice that day.

Friday, June 27: Shave Down
All 11 & Ups are invited to come to a Shave Down & Pasta Potluck Dinner to get ready for Champs. Shaving is a ritual swimmers perform before a big meet to reduce frictional drag and get into a fast mindset! And don’t worry, if you don’t want to shave, you don’t have to! Come have fun with your teammates and carbo-load before Champs!

If you do want to shave, please bring your own razor and shaving cream. We'll have buckets of water and band-aids on hand in the unlikely event of a nick.

Evite will be sent closer to the event date.

All Stars Meet: June 14 for Qualifying Swimmers

All Stars is a league-wide way of recognizing and rewarding swimmers for achieving designated qualification times. Swimmers who achieve the Q time in an event are invited to attend the All Star meet which takes place in June each year.

Swimmers may qualify in up to 5 events, but may only swim in 3 individual events at the meet. For more information, go to the MSL All  Stars page.

When a swimmer achieves an All Star time during a meet, an “a” is noted in the meet results.

This year, the All Star meet will be held at Archie Williams on Saturday, June 14th at 11am.

If you have a swimmer participating, you MUST volunteer at the meet.  This is in addition to your season commitment. Volunteer sign ups will be sent out to qualifiers the week of June 9.

You declare for events at All Stars just as you do for any other swim meet on our website. The sign up link will be sent out on Monday, June 9th.

Champs Weekend

The Championship Meet, aka "Champs" is the final meet of the season, where every MSL team participates. No qualifications are necessary. The Sleepy Hollow Swim Team has won Champs for 29 years in a row and we have every intention of keeping this incredible streak going! Coach Mark asks that everyone come to this meet!

The Tidalwaves are hosting Champs this year on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Miwok Aquatic Center, IVC College of Marin. Warm ups will start at 7 am, and the meet starts at 8:30am.

Declaring your swimmer for this meet will be the same as always- the link to declare your swimmer and pick his/her events will be in the Newsletter on Monday, June 23.

A parent is required to volunteer if you have a swimmer participating. This is in addition to your season commitment. Volunteer sign ups will be sent in a separate email the week of June 16th.

LAST CALL TO SUBMIT ! To celebrate the Marin Swim League’s 50th Year, all the teams in the MSL are invited to participate in the Spirit Challenges. First one is submitting “What the MSL means to me”. Do that HERE. Submissions are due by June 6.

Secondly, SHST will put together an Alumni Relay Team - 5 legs of 50 yards each. This is a scavenger hunt of team alumni from across the 5 decades. Contact Erin Hill if you are interested!

For those who want to avoid the lines at Champs, there is an online store to pre-order select Champs merchandise! Orders from the MSL Champs Pre-sale store must be made by June 5 for pick-up at Champs on June 28. (Be sure to select "Champs pick-up" to avoid all shipping costs). Additional products and in-person customization options will be available at Champs for order and pick-up on June 28. Any pre-sale orders made after June 5 will incur shipping costs to your home with an estimated 2nd week of July delivery date.

And lastly, our own Sleepy Hollow Champs Dinner will be held on Sunday, June 29th. Doors open at 4:30pm. This very special evening is a time for our entire team and their families to gather and celebrate our amazing season with great food, awards, and our end of the season video!  Tickets for this event are available for purchase NOW. Planning early helps us coordinate the catering.

As a volunteer based non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, we rely on swimmer registration fees and generous donations to help us operate while maintaining and building upon our incredible community. Donations specifically help us do this while expenses and costs continue to rise. Donations to our team also help us fund the many FUN events that we host during the season where kids build camaraderie and get to know each other outside of the pool (movie nights, karaoke, casino night, etc).

Every dollar and donation counts! You can donate any amount to our team HERE, and/or donate/sponsor a specific Fun event HERE. Your donation will be tax deductible to the extent permitted by law.
