Scott Valley Sea Serpents Meet Summary
The Sleepy Hollow Sea Lions visited the Scott Valley Sea Serpents on Saturday for an unforgettable duel that saw our coaches strategize and our swimmers go all out for the win. After the fog gave way to the sunshine, things got really fast. In the medley relays, Anabelle Shaw (Girls 11-12) swam a strong leg to help her team grab 2nd place, and our mixed 15-18 team held on for a close 1st place win. Colette Holt (Girls 13-14) qualified for All Stars for the first time in her 50Y Backstroke. Ariana Biesecker (Girls 9-10) also qualified for All Stars in her 50Y Fly. Maeve Kastner and Hailey Bennett (Girls 11-12) tied for 1st place with best times in their 50Y Backstroke. Way to go girls! Zoe Singleton (Girls 13-14) moved onto the Top Ten Board in her 50Y Butterfly with a time of 27.64, which was fast enough to break the Scott Valley pool record!
The boys also kicked bootyakum - Ben Wolf represented the 13-14's with a triple crown win for the second week in a row. Congrats Ben! Calvin Beauchamp (Boys 9-10) and Bastiaan Sutherland-Wong (Boys 8&U) qualified for All Stars for the first time in Fly and Breast respectively. Baxter Dixon (Boys 11-12) improved his Top Ten 1st place time with a pool record-breaking 31.90 swim, then he moved onto the Top Ten leaderboard into 7th place in his 50Y Butterfly with a time of 28.97. All Stars Meet: June 14 for Qualifiers Only
All Stars is a league-wide way of recognizing and rewarding swimmers for achieving designated qualification times. Swimmers who achieve the Q time in an event are invited to attend the All Star meet which takes place in June each year.
For those of you that made All Stars, read on and look for a seperate email (sent to you last week) on how to declare and volunteer for the meet. For those who do not have an All Stars qualifying time, you have a weekend off.
Swimmers may qualify in up to 5 events, but may only swim in 3 individual events at the meet. For more information and Q Times, go to the MSL All Stars page.
When a swimmer achieves an All Star time during a meet, an “a” is noted in the meet results.
This year, the All Star meet will be held at Archie Williams on Saturday, June 14th at 11am.
If you have a swimmer participating, you MUST volunteer at the meet. This is in addition to your season commitment.
You sign up for events at All Stars just as you do for any other swim meet on our website. The sign up link has been sent to those who qualified. If you believe your swimmer qualified for All Stars and you didn't get the email, contact Erin Hill. Note: the registration deadline is TONIGHT, not Tuesday like a usual meet.
Congrats to the Swimmers of the Week!
Group 1: Sienna Rubbio and Bernard Wicht
Group 2: Spencer Bush and Eve O’Meara
Group 3: Conri Pacchione and Evie Davis
Group 4: Nate Porter and Colette Holt
Fun Committee Updates

Friday, June 27: Pups Meet & Pancake Breakfast
While the team has been practicing and racing this season, we have little future Sea Lions just starting out through the Pups program. On Friday, June 27 we get to see all of the Pups’ hard work pay off at their very own home meet where they race each other and get a little sense of what these Sea Lion meets are all about. Come to the pool and support our soon to be Sea Lions at this adorable and special event! We can cheer on these Pups as they swim and race each other. Come enjoy the last day of the season with pancakes, followed by a lot of cheering for this year's Pups. Breakfast is served for the 10 & Unders starting at 8:00 AM, followed by the 11 & Ups at 8:30 AM. The Pups meet starts at 9:00 AM. There is no SHST practice that day.
Friday, June 27: Shave Down
All 11 & Ups are invited to come to a Shave Down & Pasta Potluck Dinner to get ready for Champs. Shaving is a ritual swimmers perform before a big meet to reduce frictional drag and get into a fast mindset! And don’t worry, if you don’t want to shave, you don’t have to! Come have fun with your teammates and carbo-load before Champs!
If you do want to shave, please bring your own razor and shaving cream. We'll have buckets of water and band-aids on hand in the unlikely event of a nick.
Evite will be sent closer to the event date.
Champs Weekend
The Championship Meet, aka "Champs" is the final meet of the season, where every MSL team participates. No qualifications are necessary. The Sleepy Hollow Swim Team has won Champs for 29 years in a row and we have every intention of keeping this incredible streak going! Coach Mark asks that everyone come to this meet!
The Tidalwaves are hosting Champs this year on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Miwok Aquatic Center, IVC College of Marin. Warm ups will start at 7am, and the meet starts at 8:30am.
Declaring your swimmer for this meet will be the same as always- the link to declare your swimmer and pick his/her events will be in the Newsletter on Monday, June 23. Note: the deadline to declare is on Monday night (not Tuesday).
A parent is required to volunteer if you have a swimmer participating. This is in addition to your season commitment. Volunteer sign ups will be sent in a separate email the week of June 16th.
SHST will put together an Alumni Relay Team - 5 legs of 50 yards each. This is a scavenger hunt of team alumni from across the 5 decades. Contact Erin Hill if you are interested!
Read the Marin IJ article about Champs, from Monday, June 9, 2025.
And lastly, our own Sleepy Hollow Champs Dinner will be held on Sunday, June 29th. Doors open at 4:30pm. This very special evening is a time for our entire team and their families to gather and celebrate our amazing season with great food, awards, and our end of the season video! Tickets for this event are available for purchase now (here). Please purchase tickets by this Friday, June 13.
