SHST is the 2025 Marin Swim League Champions! Saturday, June 27, 2025

The Sleepy Hollow Sea Lions claimed victory in their final event of the year, the Marin Swim League Championships!

All personal items (water bottles, clothing, miscellaneous) that were left behind at Champs are safe at the College of Marin Miwok Aquatic Facility. Items found will be in the lifeguard storage area. If items are not retrieved within two weeks they are donated to Goodwill.

**Please check your kids' SHST sweat pants. If you have a pair with "Carina" down the thigh, please contact Erin Hill to arrange for a swap! We have yours.

The Sleepy Hollow Sea Lions attended the MSL Championship meet at the College of Marin Miwok pool on Saturday for the season’s grand finale. This year is the 50th anniversary of the Marin Swim League, so event organizers pulled out all the stops for an action-packed, fun-filled day. Saturday was a sizzler, but the heat didn’t slow down our Sea Lions. Geared with neon swim caps, swimmers put it all in the water to score points for their team; they were rewarded with personal best times, new records, ribbons, medals, trophies, and the Champs win. The Top Ten Leaderboard saw a flurry of new activity, listed below.

The medley relays started the meet off with some nerve-wracking races that saw the Sea Lions come from behind to clinch the win in 4 out of 5 relays. In the 8 & Under group, we saw strong performances from Frankie Parker, Elle Feichtmeier, Violet Cereghino, Diana Karpenko, and Nora Shorrock Chen, who consistently scored big points for the team. In the Boys 8 & Under group, Matthew Cornwell, Ronan Williams, Harrison Fahy, Jamie Hyer, and Callum Gillies stayed strong and led the way in each of their events. In the Girls 9-10 group, Julie Hyer dominated her events to score a Triple Crown win, with support from her teammate Ariana Biesecker. In the Boys 9-10 group, Hunter Canori, Soren Scozzaro, Aero Holt, Charlie Bennett, Julian Huddleston, Jacob Brennan, and Keaton Williams all collected several points in outstanding performances across the board. In the Girls 11-12 group, Hailey Bennett, Maeve Kastner, Gabriela Dyakovski, Reese Singleton, and Heidi Heller all came up huge and scored points with best times. In the Boys 11-12 group, Noel Buennagel, Johnny Fahy, Evan Hyer, Brooks Canori, Jack Soule, Toby Jax Alan Frates, Winn Olson and Calvin Roosevelt led the way in points. In the Girls 13-14 group, Zoe Singleton won all three of her events, securing her Triple Crown status, while teammates Taylor Fahy, Ella Isakson, Maggie Dyakovski, and Camilla Donsky stockpiled points for the team as well. In the Boys 13-14 group, Ben Wolf, Baxter Dixon, Schuyler Hill, Rex Rainbolt, and Hayden Bennett all scored big points in their events. In the Girls 15-18 group, Gabby Reichley, Holly Hovey, Anya Frey, and Emme Williams picked up points for the team, while the Boys 15-18 group featured Nolan Anderson, Beau Panzica, and Gabe Porter nabbing extra points for the team. Some of the day’s standouts include Diana Karpenko (Girls 8&U) placing 2nd in the 25Y Breaststroke, the 9-10 boys showing up in force in every event, Noel Buennagel (Boys 11-12) winning a trophy for highest points, and Ariana Biesecker (Girls 9-10) coming up huge in the 200 Medley Relay to help get the win. Anya Frey and Gabby Reichley showing up for Champs to finish out an entire career with Sleepy Hollow showed true Sea Lion spirit. The free relay teams all scored huge points in each age group, to finish out the meet and push the team to a staggering 2,544 points for the day!

Zoe Singleton (Girls 13-14) broke her own Top Ten record in her 50Y Fly with a time of 27.11, and Nolan Anderson (Boys 15-18) broke the Top Ten record in his 100Y I.M. with a time of 55.47. Way to go Zoe and Nolan!

To wrap up a victorious day, swimmers were treated to the grand finale alumni freestyle relay race, where swimmers chanted and cheered for the Sleepy Hollow alumni team, and witnessed greatness as Coach Mark and Coach Paul showed us how it’s done!

Congratulations to each and every swimmer for their hard work and dedication to this swim season. The Sea Lions clocked an unbelievable 286 best times on Saturday. Congratulations, Sea Lions!

A Note for 8th Grade Families

Your children are welcome members of the team for their entire high school journey.

What changes in high school: There's no practice for high school swimmers. There is also no registration fee or volunteer requirement (with the exception of All Stars and Champs if your swimmer swims).

What stays the same: You register for the team at the start of the season, you declare for a meet every Tuesday. Swimmers are encouraged to swim in the Saturday meets (after the conclusion of thier HS swim season) and in Champs. Your 12th grader will be honored at the end of the season Champs dinner celebration.

Team Gift Pickup, Ribbons and Awards

Ribbon boxes will stay out at the pool for a few weeks - please pop by to pick up your ribbons as soon as possible. Your swimmer can still trade in Best Time ribbons for stars with Coach Paul at the pool (Mon-Thurs 9:30-noon).

Remember, Champs ribbons are different than dual meets, as there are not ribbons for every swimmer in every race. Heat winners get a ribbon, the top 8 in an overall event get a medal, and 9th - 16th place get an event ribbon.

If you weren't able to come to the Champs Dinner, you can stop by the pool during the hours above and Coach Paul can give you your swimmer's end-of-year gift.
