SHST vs TL Orcas - 6/1/22 - by Melinda Filice

Warm, sunny skies greeted the Sleepy Hollow Sea Lions Saturday as they visited the Terra Linda Orcas for a fast, competitive meet.  The Sea Lions huddled together for their pep talk, with some extra cheers for our graduating seniors.  They barked, and barked, then barked some more for extra motivation as parents and siblings ducked under umbrellas for shade.  An Orcas duet sweetly sang our national anthem, and the meet was underway with the mixed relay medleys. Biggest drops to come soon...

All Stars @ the Redwood Pool - June 12, 2022

Our Sea Lions showed up strong and swam their hearts out against swimmers from every team in the league. It was an inspiring and uplifting day! SHST results are attached and complete results will be available on the MSL website soon.

Champs and Champ Dinner

Saturday June 25th is our Championship Meet, aka "Champs" where every swimmer swims against every MSL team. The Sleepy Hollow Swim Team has won Champs for 26 years in a row and we have every intention of keeping this incredible streak going! To inform you on what you can expect and what is expected of you on this exciting day, an info packet will be sent out later this week and we will host a zoom call on Sunday evening - zoom details to come.

Sunday June 26th we will have our inspirational Champs/Awards Dinner at the Sleepy Hollow Club House to close out our season. Doors will open at 4:30pm to give everyone time to check in, hang out, play some yard games, and settle in before dinner is served (pool is closed for the night).  Dinner, catered by Insalatas, will begin at 5:00. This is fun night where kids can dress up, we eat yummy food together and gather for an Awards Ceremony for all our swimmers. Evite has been sent - please RSVP asap. It is a weekend not to be missed!

Read more about Champs here. THANK YOU!

Friday, June 24th - Pups Meet & Pancake Breakfast!

While the entire team has been practicing and racing, we have little Sea Lions just starting out through the Pups program. On Friday, June 24 at 8a we get to see all of the Pups’ hard work pay off at their very own home meet where they race each other and get a sense of what these Sea Lion meets are all about. Come to the pool and support our soon-to-be Sea Lions at this adorable and special event! Be ready to cheer on our Pups as they race each other!

Come enjoy the last day of the season with pancakes and sausages, followed by a lot of cheering for this year's Pups. Breakfast is served for the 10 & Unders starting at 8:00 AM, followed by the 11 & Ups at 8:30 AM.  The Pups meet starts at 9:00 AM.  There is no SHST practice that day.

Friday, June 24th - 11+ Shave Down and Pasta Potluck Dinner

All 11 & Ups are invited to come to a Shave Down & Pasta Potluck Dinner to get ready for Champs. Shaving is a ritual swimmers perform before a big meet to reduce frictional drag and get into a fast mindset! And don’t worry, if you don’t want to shave, you don’t have to! Come, have fun with your teammates and carbo-load before Champs!

If you do want to shave, please bring your own razor, shaving cream, and bucket. We'll have band-aids on hand in the unlikely event of a nick.

Dinner is a Pasta Potluck so each family is asked to send their 11+ swimmers with food to share. The Evite with all of the details is coming shortly. Please CLICK on the "What to Bring" link when you RSVP to choose your item.

Contact Melissa @ 415-272-0467 or [email protected] with questions.

Swim Practice Times, Rules, and Guidelines

HERE you can find our Spring and Summer practice groups and times. Stay up to date on our strict Covid 2022 Protocols and Team Policies.

Parking and Driver Safety

Please SLOW DOWN! Be aware of increased pedestrian traffic around the Clubhouse and drive carefully. Use your common sense while walking on and crossing Butterfield Road. Help teach our Sea Lions to be responsible pedestrians. The Sheriff’s Office will be making extra patrols the coming weeks to watch for speeders, illegal parking and unsafe drivers. When dropping off your swimmer and/or parking for practice:

  • Do not park in front of the Clubhouse, this is strictly for drop off.

  • Park perpendicular (not parallel) in the gravel spaces to maximize space for other people.

  • Please don’t ever park in the fire lanes/no parking zones across from the Clubhouse or in the handicapped parking spot/no parking zone in front of the Clubhouse - not even to wait for your swimmer after practice/if you remain in the car.

  • Please do not let your child "jump quickly out of the car" in the middle of the road.  This is not safe!  Please take the extra minute and use the drop off circle.

  • Use the walkway on Butterfield from Katrina Ct. to the clubhouse.

  • Remind your swimmer(s) not to walk behind parked cars.

  • Do not block gates, driveways or mailboxes.  Please be respectful of our neighbors!

  • And again, please slow down, and watch out for Sea Lions and parents crossing Butterfield and riding and walking in the bike lanes. Our swimmers all thank you!

Bikes

Bikes are NOT allowed inside the gated pool area. Please use the bike racks outside of the main black gate and do not block the Fire Zone/No Parking area. Don’t forget to bring bike locks! SHST and SHHA are not responsible for lost or stolen bikes.

No Dogs

Please remember that the Sleepy Hollow Homes Association forbids dogs at the Clubhouse and pool area.  Swim team families MAY NOT BRING DOGS to practices or meets. Dogs may not be tied up or left outside the gates and fence in front of the Clubhouse, even if you are just running in to drop off your swimmer. Please help us abide by this SHHA rule and leave your dog at home. Thank you!

Raising the Bar Initiative

Sleepy Hollow Swim Team is proud to partner with Raising the Bar, Keep Youth Events Substance Free, a county wide initiative dedicated to keeping youth events substance free. Sleepy Hollow Swim Team is encouraging an alcohol and substance free environment for all sporting events, team celebrations, and other activities that are youth focused, in person or virtual. This is an opportunity for you as parents to continue being positive role models for your kids and their class/teammates, both in person and at home, by showing them that we can all--adults and youths alike--have a good time without drinking or using substances when participating in youth events as a family. Please visit Raising the Bar and reach out to us for more information. Thank you for your support. We are looking forward seeing you Friday and if you haven’t responded yet, here is the link.

Donations

If you didn’t get a chance to donate during the registration process, please help us maintain and build upon our incredible community. Donations to our team help us do this while expenses continue to rise. Please donate to the Sea Lions – thank you!

The SHST board feels strongly that we do not want our registration fee to prohibit or deter families from joining our team. We want to maintain and build upon our incredible community; donations to our team help us do this while expenses continue to rise. Donations to our team also help us fund the many FUN events that we host during the season where kids build camaraderie and get to know each other outside of the pool. As we are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, your donation will be tax deductible to the extent permitted by law. You can donate any amount to our team HERE and if you would like to sponsor a specific event, you can donate HERE.

A huge thank you to Zamira Solari, Realtor Compass for sponsoring all of our Fun Fridays!

Another massive thank you to Sushi69 & Mi Pueblo for sponsoring some of our fun events!

Thank you for these very generous donations!
