SHST vs Strawberry Seals - 6/18/22 - by Nilli Hapuarachchi
Saturday was a great day with the Sealions displaying their trademark grit, determination and fierce spirit to pull off a stunning win against the Strawberry Seals in a close race on Tamalpais high school pool and grounds. The score was 286-272 in our favor at the end but it was a nailbiter for sure! You could see each Sealion take a deep breath and push harder every time the announcer gave a score update, It was a day to break and set records as the hot sun beat down. The Seals certainly set some pool records as a team but they weren't alone in doing so! Sealion Holly Hovey broke the Tam pool record in the 13-14 girls freestyle with a stellar time of 25.58 and that is also a new Top 10 time coming in at #7! We were not lacking for Triple Crown winners with Winston Olson, Zoe Singleton, Holly Hovey and Nolan Anderson who swam some of their finest laps. The team delivered big with split relays, some Sealions swimming up an age group, and even swimmers racing strokes outside their comfort zone. With 10 competing lanes, the heats and the meet moved fast, just like the water. At the end of it the Sealions stand ready to take their A game to Champs next weekend, swim against every MSL team and hopefully win yet another Championship! GOOOO Sealions!
See attached and the website for the complete set of results from the meet. Ribbons will be finalized and available by Tuesday's practice!
Once again, the Sealions impress us all with 179 Best times! Here are the biggest drops:

Champs Weekend - Meet Signup, Volunteer Signup, and Champs Dinner Tickets!
CHAMPS AND CHAMPS DINNER SIGN UPS END TUESDAY 6/21 AT NOON! Remember EVERYONE can swim at Champs! (There are NO qualifying times like there are for All Stars.) Please come for this truly exciting meet at College of Marin’s IVC campus in Novato. It is the culmination of our swimmers' hard work this season when we swim against every other MSL team. The Sleepy Hollow Swim Team has won Champs for 26 years in a row and we have every intention of keeping this incredible streak going! Read more about Champs here.
Things to know and to do:
1. 8U & 9-10s swim in the AM / 11+ in the PM. Sign up here, NOW. There is a hard cut off for signups Tuesday at NOON. We will not be able to late register you as it is not our team putting together the heat sheets.
2. EVERYONE MUST VOLUNTEER if your child is swimming. Sign up here, NOW.
3. Champs is a crowded, hectic (but wonderful) day. We will be having a Zoom meeting on Monday evening at 7 pm to answer all of your questions and further explain this meet. Zoom info to come before the meeting.
4. PLEASE read the attached packet and review the maps before the Zoom tonight's meeting. It is critical you understand that there are essentially 2 meets happening at the same time and your child will swimming only one side of the pool depending on their age group. It is also critical that you understand the new pool at IVC has NO spectator space - you MUST clear the area immediately after your child races. Our tent area will be a bit of a walk up to the pool deck so plan accordingly. Parking will also be challenging – be prepared to walk a long way to get to the IVC pool.
5. Lastly – our SHST Champs dinner is Sunday 6/26 at 4:30 at the SH Clubhouse (for all families, if you swim Champs or not!) – another DO NOT MISS event. Get your tickets here, NOW. Please purchase tickets by Tuesday at NOON. Dress up if you would like to! Dinner, catered by Insalatas, will begin at 5:00. The awards ceremony will follow where each and every swimmer is recognized. Dessert and the highly anticipated season video will wrap up our evening together around 8:00 pm. Please bring a dozen of your favorite nut free hand held treats (like cookies, brownies, or bars) to share. Please sign up HERE if you can volunteer to help out our wonderful Champs dinner team. Tickets are $15 for kids and $25 for adults.

Come to the pool and support our soon-to-be Sea Lions at this adorable and special event! Be ready to cheer on our Pups as they race each other!
Come enjoy the last day of the season with pancakes and sausages, followed by a lot of cheering for this year's Pups. Breakfast is served for the 10 & Unders starting at 8:00 AM, followed by the 11 & Ups at 8:30 AM. The Pups meet starts at 9:00 AM. There is no SHST practice that day.

Swim Practice Times, Rules, and Guidelines
HERE you can find our Spring and Summer practice groups and times. Stay up to date on our strict Covid 2022 Protocols and Team Policies.
Parking and Driver Safety
Please SLOW DOWN! Be aware of increased pedestrian traffic around the Clubhouse and drive carefully. Use your common sense while walking on and crossing Butterfield Road. Help teach our Sea Lions to be responsible pedestrians. The Sheriff’s Office will be making extra patrols the coming weeks to watch for speeders, illegal parking and unsafe drivers. When dropping off your swimmer and/or parking for practice:
-
Do not park in front of the Clubhouse, this is strictly for drop off.
-
Park perpendicular (not parallel) in the gravel spaces to maximize space for other people.
-
Please don’t ever park in the fire lanes/no parking zones across from the Clubhouse or in the handicapped parking spot/no parking zone in front of the Clubhouse - not even to wait for your swimmer after practice/if you remain in the car.
-
Please do not let your child "jump quickly out of the car" in the middle of the road. This is not safe! Please take the extra minute and use the drop off circle.
-
Use the walkway on Butterfield from Katrina Ct. to the clubhouse.
-
Remind your swimmer(s) not to walk behind parked cars.
-
Do not block gates, driveways or mailboxes. Please be respectful of our neighbors!
-
And again, please slow down, and watch out for Sea Lions and parents crossing Butterfield and riding and walking in the bike lanes. Our swimmers all thank you!
Bikes
Bikes are NOT allowed inside the gated pool area. Please use the bike racks outside of the main black gate and do not block the Fire Zone/No Parking area. Don’t forget to bring bike locks! SHST and SHHA are not responsible for lost or stolen bikes.
No Dogs
Please remember that the Sleepy Hollow Homes Association forbids dogs at the Clubhouse and pool area. Swim team families MAY NOT BRING DOGS to practices or meets. Dogs may not be tied up or left outside the gates and fence in front of the Clubhouse, even if you are just running in to drop off your swimmer. Please help us abide by this SHHA rule and leave your dog at home. Thank you!
Raising the Bar Initiative
Sleepy Hollow Swim Team is proud to partner with Raising the Bar, Keep Youth Events Substance Free, a county wide initiative dedicated to keeping youth events substance free. Sleepy Hollow Swim Team is encouraging an alcohol and substance free environment for all sporting events, team celebrations, and other activities that are youth focused, in person or virtual. This is an opportunity for you as parents to continue being positive role models for your kids and their class/teammates, both in person and at home, by showing them that we can all--adults and youths alike--have a good time without drinking or using substances when participating in youth events as a family. Please visit Raising the Bar and reach out to us for more information. Thank you for your support. We are looking forward seeing you Friday and if you haven’t responded yet, here is the link.
Donations
If you didn’t get a chance to donate during the registration process, please help us maintain and build upon our incredible community. Donations to our team help us do this while expenses continue to rise. Please donate to the Sea Lions – thank you!
The SHST board feels strongly that we do not want our registration fee to prohibit or deter families from joining our team. We want to maintain and build upon our incredible community; donations to our team help us do this while expenses continue to rise. Donations to our team also help us fund the many FUN events that we host during the season where kids build camaraderie and get to know each other outside of the pool. As we are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, your donation will be tax deductible to the extent permitted by law. You can donate any amount to our team HERE and if you would like to sponsor a specific event, you can donate HERE.
A huge thank you to Zamira Solari, Realtor Compass for sponsoring all of our Fun Fridays!
Another massive thank you to Sushi69 & Mi Pueblo for sponsoring some of our fun events!
Thank you for these very generous donations!
