Your Last SHST Weekly Report of 2022!

HIGHLIGHTS & NEWS

Thank you for an INCREDIBLE season everyone!

This is your last weekly report of 2022! Thank you for reading so much detail each week, doing your volunteer shifts each meet/event, and for being part of this incredible community!  We hope every new family had a wonderful first season as a Sea Lion family and every existing family was as pleased as we were to have a return to a normal season and the heartwarming Champs weekend events.

Thank you again to coaches Mark and Keenan for your amazing work with every swimmer. Thank you to our outgoing president Anne-Marie Kostecki for courageously and masterfully steering this large ship during a stormy few years. And to our amazing treasurer Jeanine Dixon for keeping us on course for over a decade! Also thank you again to the Champs dinner committee who created a wonderful culminating event for all!

As Mark mentioned last night, Fall swim info will be emailed in mid to late August from Mark Anderson Aquatics, and sessions will begin after Labor Day. 2023 SHST Swim Team registration for current families will open in early January, and for new families shortly thereafter. Have a wonderful summer everyone!

SHST = 2022 Marin Swim League Champions!

For a 27th consecutive time, the Sealions dominated at Champs and pulled off a stunning victory with 2451 points (runner-up was the Strawberry Seals at 1902 points). The biggest meet of the season was a full and exciting day at the College of Marin IVC in Novato. The 10 MSL teams and vendors scattered across the grounds with their colorful tents and a festive feeling hung in the air. In the aquatic center, spectators thronged the East and West ends of the pool deck cheering on the swimmers who came out determined to give it their all. In a meet where the events moved more quickly than usual, the Sealions displayed their characteristic passion, determination, composure and sportsmanship in every race as they reached new heights and set records.  Well done Sea Lions... we are so proud of you!

We came back strong after the pandemic hiatus, reconnected and forged new and strong friendships as a swim team and community, welcomed a new wave of talented young swimmers, and ended the 2022 MSL season on the highest note any team could wish for. See you next season!

Highlights of the Shave Down, HS Dinner, and Pups Meet

Thanks to our amazingly FUN, fun committee for a season full of great events that helped us connect and engage!

SHST Photo/Video Library

If you have not yet done so, please watch the 2021 Senior Videos. Just like our 2022 graduates last night, these young adults are so inspiring for the younger kids (and all of us) to hear. The 2022 end-of-season video will be posted to the video library soon!

Photos from every meet are available in the photo libraryTHANK YOU to our spectacular photo and video team for capturing this memorable season for all!

Lost & Found - LAST CALL!!

As you probably saw last night, the lost and found is OVERFLOWING!  Please head over to the pool and find your stuff soon as it will be donated on July 11th!

July 4th in the Hollow!

Be sure to come out for a wonderful day of family, friends and fun!  The day begins with the fun run, then the parade, and a celebration at the pool. Coach Mark is the Grand Marshal this year and will lead the parade (in the dry section) with his wife Julie by his side. SHST families will follow close behind by foot, on bikes, scooters - proudly displaying blue and yellow and Sea Lion Spirit!  Join us to decorate your bike, scooter or whatever on Sunday 7/3 at 4 pm at Jeanine Dixon's house (2 Van Tassel Court). Then on the 4th, meet at10:30AM on the corner of Deer Hollow and Butterfield where the parade kicks off at 11.  Click here for more details about July 4th in the Hollow.

Team Gift Pickup, Ribbons and Awards

Ribbon boxes will stay out at the pool for a few weeks - please pop by to pick up your ribbons as soon as possible. Your swimmer can still trade in Best Time ribbons for stars with Sharon Fahy at the pool (Mon-Thurs 9:30-noon).

Remember, Champs ribbons are different than dual meets, as there are not ribbons for every race. Heat winners get a ribbon, the top 8 in an overall event get a medal, and 9th - 16th place get an event ribbon.

If you weren't able to come to the Champs dinner, you can email Molly to arrange a pick up of your swimmer's end-of-year gift.
