Kerra Houser Head Coach

Hi! I’m Coach Kerra, and welcome to the Mavericks Family <

I grew up being around the water, teaching swim lessons, watching my older sisters compete, and started competitively swimming in high school. I continued my swimming career at BYU. After completing my degree and swimming career, I moved back to the valley to pursue my teaching career, and start a recreational swim program in Modesto. I wanted Modesto to have a program that fostered a sense of teamwork, discipline, and personal growth from an early age. My goal for this program is to provide an opportunity for athletes to develop their swimming skills in a structured environment while building confidence and learning the value of hard work and perseverance. Most importantly, I hope I can help inspire the next generation of swimmers to reach their full potential and pursue their passion for the sport.

I am a junior high Special Education teacher, and finishing my 9th year teaching. When I’m not teaching, coaching, chasing around my daughter Kolby (1.5) & 2 dogs, I love to travel, eat yummy desserts, workout, be with my family, and golf with my husband, Blake. I look forward to the season!

Kassandra Schanen Assistant Coach

I am so excited to coach the Mavericks with my sister Kerra! I have swam competitively for 14 years and finished my swimming career at Brigham Young University. I have also been teaching swimming lessons and coaching swimming for over 15 years. Outside of swimming I am a stay at home Mom to my two girls. I am looking forward to meeting all of our swimmers and helping them improve their swimming.

Kaydence Bispo Assistant Coach

Hi! I am coach Kaydence! I'm the youngest of the Bispo family, so swimming has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I'm currently a freshman on the San Diego State SwimTeam, where we recently won our fourth consecutive conference championship in Feburary. I'm majoring in kinesiology with hopes of becoming a nurse anesthetist in the future.

Not only am I passionate about swimming, but growing up in a big family has also given me a love for working with kids. I especially enjoy coaching alongside my sisters, which I believe brings a unique and special dynamic to our team. I've been teaching private swim lessons every summer since I was 12, and while this is only my second year as an official coach, I swam for the Mavericks and have been involved with the team since the beginning!

Jessica Focha Assistant Coach

I’m coach Jessica, I am a mom to Paisley Lewis who is on MMST. I have been swimming competitively since age 6. I swam year round for CMST, and SOS while growing up. I was on varsity all 4 years while swimming at Davis high school, then swam for MJC. I also played water polo, but definitely prefer swimming. I have coached for multiple teams through the years from kids-masters. I’ve been a lifeguard and  swim instructor for 18 years. I coach for MMST during the summer, then coach year round for Turlock Aquatics Club. I run Focha Aquatics where I teach all levels and ages how to swim. I also teach water aerobics, and water therapy. In my free time I enjoy staying active; yoga, swimming, cycling, hiking, kayaking, camping and anything else that includes the outdoors. The only time I sit is to crochet or have game nights with friends.
