2025 Practice Information

We are excited to announce that we have some new changes to our practice schedule this year!

Langley practices will be divided into groups - please see the group descriptions below the pracctice schedule to determine the best fit for your swimmer(s).  Below are some reminders about practice.  Coaches will let you know if your swimmer should participate in the regular swim team, beginner/mini swim team, or should start with group lessons.

  • The head coach has the discretion to move swimmers between practice groups into earlier/later practice groups based upon the following criteria: a) swimmer’s ability; b) the number of swimmers in the practice groups; c) the number of available lanes; d) other special circumstances.
  • At practice, swimmers should wear a competition suit (one-piece racing suit for girls, briefs or jammers for boys, no bikinis or trunks as this makes proper stroke work difficult).
  • Afternoon practice is intended for swimmers who have a schedule conflict keeping them from attending the morning practice. Swimmers may not attend both practices.
  • Swimmers should swim with the appropriate group unless otherwise advised by Coach Kat or Coach Evan. If you have any questions about which practices your child should attend, please email Coach Kat at [email protected].
  • Parents should be clear of the deck area during practice and please save your questions for the coaches until all practice sessions are finished (there is no time in between sessions for questions). We appreciate your understanding.
  • Practice and meet schedules are subject to change. The Langley Club will comply with county and NVSL health and safety rules, including occupancy limits.

New Swimmer Evaluations!

We invite our newest and youngest swimmers to get a head start on practices in order to see what  group they would best fit into.  If you are new to the Langley Swim Team and need an evulation to  determine which group is the best fit for your child, please reach out to Coach Kat to discuss if an  evaluation is needed.

As a general rule, swimmers who can swim 25 meters (one lap) unassisted are fine for the regular  team and swimmers who cannot would be best suited for the Mini Team.

2025 Practice Groups

 Competitive Group

This group is primarily geared towards the older and experienced members of the team.

Swimmers who attend this practice are expected to be legal in all four strokes and can swim multiple laps unassisted and practices will be endurance based and geared towards competition.

 Intermediate Group

This group is primarily geared to our age group (9-12 yo) swimmers who have some prior swim experience.

Swimmers in this group will have a strong focus on technique and getting  stronger in the water. They should be familiar with all four strokes.

 Beginner Group

This group is for our younger swimmers who are looking to compete.

Swimmers in this group may have some prior experience, but many might not have much at all. These practices will be heavily focused on technique with a goal of learning how to swim all four strokes legally.

 Mini Group

This group is for our youngest swimmers!

Swimmers in this group will not have a lot of prior experience, yet are  comfortable to swim at least 10 meters unassisted.  Swimmers will  work with the coaches to learn Freestyle and Backstroke primarily, with  options to move to all four strokes.

**Please note that there is mobility between the groups! As your swimmer progresses over the  summer, they can be moved up to another group that best fits their needs.
