You AND your swimmer are important for a well run meet.
If a swimmer signs up but doesn’t show for a meet, there will be an empty lane. This can increase the length of the meet instead of running each heat at capacity. We are sometimes limited on the number of swimmers in an event against smaller teams. An empty lane then means another Waves swimmer lost the opportunity to swim. If a swimmer is assigned to a relay and doesn’t show, we are left scrambling and there may be three other swimmers who miss out on that event.
Late signups and late drops create significant extra work for coaches and computer reps. It is harder to add or delete a swimmer once meet preparation begins, which is at least 3 days before a meet. It is even more difficult and may affect the other team as well when the event reports have been created which is 2 days before a meet.
We recommend committing or declining at the beginning of the summer for ALL meets so this task is done. Updating registration is easy if something changes. It is just as important for us to know if your swimmer won’t be there as to know that they will be. Decline the meet if your swimmer won’t be there!
-
Meet sign-up through Sports Engine/Go Motion/Team Unify website or app is REQUIRED before each meet.
-
If a swimmer needs to be dropped from a meet, the parent must email [email protected] asap and no later than 3 days prior to the meet.
-
If a swimmer is not signed up for a meet on time, the swimmer will not swim in the meet.
-
If a swimmer signs up for a meet and is a no-show, they will not participate in the next scheduled meet unless the absence is excused. We recognize that there are valid reasons for a sudden absence like an injury or sickness, so those no shows will be excused if an email is sent to [email protected] no later than 3pm on the day of the meet.
