What can I Say … I am a PENGUIN all the way.  My career started as a swim instructor many years ago.  Then, Park Terrace called asking me if I might be interested in coaching.  COACHING!  I had never coached before.  The interview was successful and I became an assistant coach to Richard Contreras.  He was a very young head coach, and had the drive and determination to help move Park Terrace forward in the direction it is today.  Throughout my teaching career, I also taught Lifeguard and CPR classes, for which I received a Resolution from the City Council for volunteer contribution in Lifeguard Training.  I am also involved in showing dogs.  My first show dog was a Borzoi, but the personality of Afghan Hounds caught my attention.  I have bred and shown Afghan Hounds to their championships.  If you don’t see me at the club on Sundays … I am probably at a dog show.  Years have gone by … I am still a PENGUIN and loving it!  Teaching and coaching, being with the members of Park Terrace, and above all, taking part in the spirit that exists at Park Terrace has been a great part in my life ... and a most rewarding one.

Hey Penguins, my name is Roby Shideler, and I am excited to return as the head coach for the 2025 swim season! I joined Park Terrace when I was 12 years old, the coaching staff when I was 14, and spent 7 seasons swimming/on the coaching staff until I left to complete my undergraduate degree at UC Berkeley. While in the Bay Area, I spent time on the coaching staff for a competitive year round team and as the head coach for a masters swim. After graduating, I decided to come back home to Sacramento to rejoin Park Terrace’s eternal pursuit for SSL glory. I have deeply enjoined the time I have spent throughout my career in aquatics, and am passionate about sharing the abundance of knowledge that exists in the world of swim. The SSL provides an amazing atmosphere that introduces young people to this world, gives them opportunities to develop their skills, compete at a high level, and build community unlike that of other social experiences in sports. Park Terrace has a storied history in this league as fierce competitors & a tight-knit community, I look forward to working with you all to continue that legacy.

Hi Penguins! My name is Sam and I am so excited to be back on deck! I swam for Park Terrace for 15 years and absolutely loved every second! Every summer was spent going to camp, swimming, lifeguarding, and swim coaching. Park Terrace is a place for children to learn how to make friends, improve their swimming technique, experience a healthy competitive environment, and make memories that last a lifetime. For the last 4 years I have been coaching the swim team and teaching at McClatchy High School and I’m so excited to see all the familiar faces. I have received such a warm welcome back and I can’t wait to meet all the new penguins! Go PT!"

Hi PT!! I’m so excited to be back for my third season as a coach. I can’t believe that I’m now a junior and I’ve been coaching since 7th grade. When its not swim season, I participate in mcclatchy waterpolo and swim. I love spending my summers by the pool and hanging out with all the penguins. I can’t wait to see you all for this great season!!

Hey Penguins! It’s coach Nora and I am so excited to be coming back for my second summer as your coach! I’m currently a sophomore at C.K. McClatchy High School where I swim and play water polo. I have been swimming on the swim team since I was five years old, and I can’t remember a summer that I haven’t spent here on the pool deck. Park Terrace is like a second home to me, and I have loved being part of such an amazing team. I can’t wait to see what this summer will bring! Go PT!!

Hi Penguins, I’m Coach Lucy! I’ll be a senior at C.K. McClatchy this fall. I started swimming with the Stingrays when I was seven and have been a Penguin for the past eight years. My favorite events are breaststroke and IM. I am exited to be back coaching at PT and am looking forward to a super fun summer. I can’t wait to see all of you on deck!

Hi PT Penguins! I am coach Lily and I can’t wait to be back on the pool deck this summer.  I started swimming at PT when I was 8 I swam on a year round competitive team during COVID, but nothing beats being a Penguin.  I was a junior coach last year and I am so excited to be back as a coach this year. Looking forward to a super fun and fast season! Go Penguins!!!
 

Hi, I’m Elena! This is my first year as a coach and I am super excited to be a part of this year’s team. I was a Junior Coach last year and this will be my sixth year swimming for PT.
