Frequently Asked Questions​

• Do you need to be a member of Greenwood Park Bells Lake Community Club in order to join the team?​​
  • ​Yes. You do need to be a member of our club. Membership information can found at bellslake.com. It is the BEST place to spend your summer =) It is also a Tri-County Swimming League rule that you must be a member in good standing at a Tri-County swim club in order to join the swim team.

• How old do you need to be to be on the swim team? 
  • ​Most swimmers start at age 5. We will take swimmers younger than 5 based on an evaluation by our coaching staff. There will be a tryout for NEW SWIMMERS ONLY, AGES 8 & UNDER. If your child does not make the team, GPBLCC offers group swim lessons, our Tadpole Program,  that may be a better fit for him/her.  Please DO NOT register for the team if you are unsure, until AFTER the try out.  You will be guaranteed a spot on the team if they do make it.

• Do you need to know how to swim to start in our 8 & Under group? 
  • ​Any beginning swimmer signing up to be an 8 & Under must:
    • Have previous experience on a swim team or in lessons 
    • ​Be comfortable in the water
    • be able to separate easily from parent during practice time
    • Be able to submerge face in the water while swimming
    • Be able to swim a minimum of 10 meters independently using arms and legs
    • Be able to listen and be willing to learn!

• What level of swimmers are on the team? 
  • ​Greenwood Park has swimmers of all abilities from those just graduating from "Tadpoles" to those who are preparing to swim in college as well as everywhere in between.

• Who does the team compete against?
  • ​Greenwood Park is part of the Tri-County Swimming Association, a competetive swim league based in Glocuester, Camden and Burlington counties. Boys and girls compete separately against swimmers in their own age group.

                        ​Age Groups: 8 & Under, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-18

• When are the meets?
  • ​"A" meets are Saturdays at 9:00 AM and "B" meets are select Wednesdays at 6:00 PM. Beginner swimmers usually  only swim the Wednesday meets, but with more experience they may be called upon to swim on Saturdays. The goal is to have every team member be an "A" meet swimmer. Coaches determine meet entries.

• When are practices? 
  • ​Starting Wednesday, 5/28/25, practices are held daily Monday-Friday 
  • Pre-Season Schedule (After School)
    • 3:30-4:45~ 15-18, 13-14 
    • 4:45-5:45~ 11-12, 9-10 
    • 5:45-6:30~ 8 & Unders​
  • Regular Season Schedule (Mornings)- starting after WTPS's last day of school 
    • ​7:15-8:45 ~ 15-18, 13-14
    • 8:45-10:00~ 11-12, 9-10 
    • 10:00-10:50~ 8 & Unders

• How will I know if practice is canceled? 
  • We will send out a group text AND send an email 
  • Sign up for the Remind101 team texts!

• If I sign my child up, but then decide it is not for us (because of skill, commitment, etc) is there a refund? 
  • ​No, there are no refunds once you have registered for the team. Please read through all information BEFORE signing up.
