We are excited to welcome back our fantastic Head Coach Ryan Fish and
assistant coaches Liz Spanfelner and Karli Cortright!

Our coaches encourage kids of all ages and ability to join – every swimmer is a valuable member of our team!

Head Coach Ryan Fish

Coach Ryan is in his 11th season as Willowdale Swim Team’s Head Coach.  He started his swimming career at the age of 4 at Westwood Swim Club and swam for Rancocas Valley Regional High School.  Ryan attended Wesley College in Dover, DE, where he earned a Bachelor of Science and played NCAA soccer and tennis.  He is currently a health and physical education teacher at Rancocas Valley Regional High School, where he has coached the Girls’ Swim Team since 2011.  Ryan enjoys spending free time with his wife Alyssa, their children Hannah and Jackson, their awesome dog Toby, and their friends.

Assistant Coach Liz Spanfelner

Willowdale is delighted to welcome Coach Liz back for her 3rd season as Willowdale’s Assistant Coach and as the coordinator of our Learn-to-Swim program.  Liz grew up swimming at Jersey Wahoos and swam competitively at the College of New Jersey, where she earned Bachelors’ degrees in early childhood education and English literature.  She has coached within the Princeton Area Swimming and Diving Association, the Suburban Swim League, and Tri-County Swimming Association, and is currently coaching year-round with the MLY Phoenix.  Liz is currently a first-grade teacher in Hammonton.

Assistant Coach Karli Cortright

We are thrilled that Coach Karli is joining Willowdale for her 2nd season as an Assistant Coach.  Karli’s love of swimming started at Tarnsfield Swim Club, where she did summer swim for 10 years.  During the school year, Karli swam at East Coast C-Cerpants and was a 4-year varsity swimmer at Rancocas Valley Regional High School.  While pursuing her degree in Health and Physical Education, with a minor in Psychology, at Rowan University, she also coaches at the YMCA in Vineland.
