Practice groups are merely guidelines and are flexible. Some eleven year-olds are not confident enough to move into the GOLD group; some younger children, particularly those who swam all winter, may be placed in the GOLD group because they are accustomed to more yardage. Some children progress so rapidly they could possibly move to another group after a few weeks. Remember that flexibility is the key.
