Exeter Eels Swim Team

We Need You!

Without the volunteer support of parents, it would be cost prohibitive to run the swim team program. All parents are responsible to volunteer in some manner during the swim season.

Someone once said that the membership of an organization is made up of four bones. There are (1) wishbones – who spend their time wishing someone would do all of the work. There are (2) jawbones – who do all of the talking, but very little else. There are (3) knucklebones – who knock everything that anyone else tries to do. Finally, there are (4) backbones – who take on the load of all of the other bones and do the work that makes the organization succeed. To be a good backbone you must get involved. Ask questions; offer your help, talents and enthusiasm. Don’t be shy with your help. Our program will run smoothly and be a big success for all of us.

Every parent is expected to volunteer for a least one task at each home meet: concessions, timing, recording, line-ups, supervising swimmer rest area, set-up and/or cleanup. Don’t know what to do? Please go to the 'Events' tab and click the 'Job Sign-up' under the date for the events you can help with.

Volunteer Fee

Volunteering is an essential part of this swim team. Without our volunteers, our team will not be able to compete in meets. At the beginning of the season, a deposit shall be given by each family in the amount of $100. This deposit is due by May 15th. Each family will be requested to work 5 volunteer shifts. If the minimum amount of shifts is not completed, then the Exeter Eels Swim Team will keep your deposit to go towards swim team expenses or hiring outside workers to run the meet. If you do complete your volunteer work, you will receive your deposit back on July 2 which is our End of Year Party.

We are enforcing this policy so that everyone helps to do their part in supporting this swim team and hope that this will distribute the work load evenly. We understand that certian situations may prevent families from being able to volunteer at meets. If you ask to pay your volunteer fee up front, we are happy to hire folks to work your shifts. Also, you can have a babysitter or relative work your shift, we are happy to train new people!
