HOX Swim Team Testimonials: Celebrating Our Community and Legacy
Welcome to the testimonials page for the HOX Swim Team, where we celebrate the heart of our program—our swimmers. At HOX, we believe that swimming is more than just a sport; it’s a journey of growth, camaraderie, and lifelong learning.
These reflections from our senior swimmers capture the essence of what it means to be part of our team. From building friendships that last a lifetime to discovering the rewards of dedication and perseverance, the HOX experience leaves an indelible mark on each swimmer. Whether they’re moving on to college swim teams, pursuing coaching opportunities, or carrying the lessons of teamwork and resilience into other aspects of life, our swimmers exemplify the spirit of HOX.
We’re proud to share their stories with you. Take a moment to hear, in their own words, how being part of the HOX Swim Team has shaped their lives.
“Even though I’m leaving behind a group of people and a team that cannot be replaced, I know I will take the lessons I've learned at HOX with me. First, everyone is welcome. I was not an "A relay" swimmer when I joined the team. But the coaches met me at my own level, and helped me to progress by challenging me to do better each day, each week, each year. Second, some of my very best friends were made on the HOX team. I hope to foster these same friendships on the University of Oregon club swim team. Finally, learning to be athletic and healthy is a lifelong lesson that I will share as I continue to participate and, if possible, coach in Oregon.”

“Being fairly new to the team and swimming my last season, HOX has taught me that camaraderie is key. Swimming can be seen as an individual sport sometimes, yet HOX works as a team and supports each and every one of their swimmers.”

“After putting in hard work everyday and receiving feedback from my coaches, I began to see improvement each season. Being a part of the Blackhawk Swim Team has shown me that hard work, dedication, and consistency does pay off. The little nine year old girl in me would be smiling ear to ear to see who I have become today, making county in every other event and making A finals at both the county and league level. This team has become my second family.”

“Swimming for the HOX has impacted my life in a lot of ways. It helped me learn to be the best swimmer I can possibly be. I needed to have dedication to go to the practices and to push myself even when I was tired. I had to learn to organize my time so that I had time as well to study and do my homework. I have learned what teamwork is and that others rely on me as I rely on them.”

“Being part of HOX swim has helped me to build my summer swim friendships. The friends I’ve made are from different schools and I’ve made friends that help me to expand my confidence to speak and reach outside my comfort zone. The coaches and friends from HOX had taught me that I can do hard things if I set my mind to it, have a plan and work towards a goal. Plus it’s fun!”
