Coaches’ Update:
We are so excited to kick off the 2025 Swim Season on Monday, March 31st!
For the first day of practice, please make sure your swimmer brings:
- Fins (We have some extra fins if you haven’t purchased yours yet. Please write your name on your pair in Sharpie!)
- Goggles (we also recommend your swimmer bring an extra pair of goggles in their swim bag in the rare event that their main pair breaks)
- Snug-fitting swimwear (swim shirts and swim trunks are discouraged as they add extra weight and resistance and interfere in a swimmer’s ability to learn proper technique)
- Swim caps required for swimmers with long hair; encouraged for all swimmers during meets.
Coaches Katie Hickey and Lily Sanchez are still at college and will be returning for Time Trials in May. Between March 31st and then, Coach Tyler, Coach Bella, and I will be leading practices with our in-water Junior Coaches. Our high school swimmer Junior Coaches will begin working with us again when their HS swim season concludes.
During the first few days of practice, coaches will be assessing all swimmers to place them in the correct lanes based on skill level. We understand everyone wants to swim with their friends, but sometimes that’s not possible in order to keep practices running smoothly. Don’t worry—there’s plenty of time for socializing throughout the season!
If you need to speak to the coaches, please be sure to send us an email in lieu of asking questions when we are coaching the swimmers. We will respond to you in a timely manner, and appreciate your understanding as our focus needs to be on the swimmers during practice time.
We also know many families have spring break plans over the next few weeks. No worries if you miss practice during your break—enjoy your time off! If you're in town, we hope to see your swimmer at the pool. I will be out of town during my Spring Break for MDUSD (4/7, 4/8, 4/10, 4/14). We welcome back the amazing Coach Abby Sanchez in my place the week of April 7th.
Important Reminders:
- Bring goggles, swim caps, and fins to every practice.
- Need fins? We recommend the FINIS Long Floating Fins — here’s the link to order: https://www.finisswim.com/long-floating-fins.html
On behalf of the WCSC coaching staff, we are so appreciative that you chose to swim with our incredible team, and are beyond excited for a fabulous summer filled with fast swimming, popped times, spirited meets, new friendships, fun events, and memories that will last a lifetime! GO Walnut Creek!! -Coach Emily

WCSC PARENTS MEETING - Back to Swim Night:
We highly encourage all new parents to attend this important informational night!
- Wednesday, April 16th at 6:30 pm
- Buena Vista Elementary School (located at 2355 San Juan Ave) in the Multi-Purpose Room.
We’ll be covering a lot of helpful information and answering all of your questions. Even if you’ve been with the team before, it’s a great opportunity to get a refresher and hear updates for the upcoming season. Swimmers do not need to attend, but are welcome, – although much of the content, like job requirements and what to bring to meets and my favorite swim apps, may not hold their interest!
APPAREL - TEAM SUITS & CAPS
