Evaluations
Swimmers will be placed into appropriate swim-level groups following a review and evaluation by the coaches. To arrange an evaluation, please email [email protected].
Meets
The Baltimore JCC Barracudas compete as part of the Central Maryland Swim League during the months of June and July. In order to participate on the team, you must be a member of the JCC of Greater Baltimore. (Summer-only members of the JCC are welcome and strongly encouraged to participate.) There are five swim meets scheduled against other local teams in the Central Maryland area throughout the season; generally scheduled for once a week. All swimmers are encouraged to participate in all meets regardless of their skill level. (Coaches will determine what events are best for each swimmer.)
History
The Barracudas won the CMSL Division IX title in 2011 and 2012, and the Division VIII Championship in 2013. In 2012, Alan Cherches set the team's first CMSL League Records. In 2014, the Barracudas moved from Division VIII to Division V. The team tied for the Championship of Division V in 2015, and went undefeated and won the Division V Championship in 2016. The Boys' Team led the League in scoring at the 2016 Straehle Invitational Championships, winning the 11/12 Boys and 15 & Older Mixed Freestyle Relays. In 2019, the team will be competing in Division V. The Barracudas were undefeated champions in divsion IV in 2021 and 2022 and moved up to divion III in 2023.
Practices
Practices are held Monday - Thursday between 5:30pm - 8:00pm. (Group practice times vary by level) Swimmers are expected to attend at least two practices per week.
Registration
The Baltimore JCC Barracudas participate in the Central Maryland Swim League in Division III. The application fee includes registration with the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) in compliance with League rules. All swimmers will receive a team T-Shirt and swim cap.
