14&Under SCS Spring Age Group Champs March 16-19 The 2023 edition of Southern California Swimming’s premier Age Group Championships made its return to the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center this year and the meet proved to be very successful. 2023 Spring Speedo Sectionals March 1-5 We had 50 Rose Bowl athletes make the trip to Carlsbad for the 2023 Speedo Spring Sectionals. This was our largest team ever at this meet and we used our strength in numbers to our advantage. Our team stepped up and was very successful. 2023 Pacific Committee Finale March 4 The Pacific Committee Finale meet provided an opportunity for many of our athletes to close out the Short Course season with a championship meet. Many of our Rose Bowl athletes achieved lifetime best times and it was a wonderful ending to the season before we transition to the Long Course season. 2023 Pacific Committee Championships February 24-26 The 2023 PAC Champs was a meet to remember in so many ways. In addition to our athletes putting up many personal lifetime best times, Southern California also experienced some record-setting numbers in rain and temperatures. Asian American and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) Lunar Festival February 17-20 The AAPI Lunar Festival held at the Marguerite Recreation Center in Mission Viejo offered a prelims-finals meet opportunity before our Age Group swimmers headed into Spring Championship meets. Polar Plunge Meet at Torrance January 28-29 The Polar Plunge, in many ways, was a great test for our age group athletes. It was the first travel meet of the new year. It was the first ever travel meet for many of the newest members of our team. It was everyone’s first opportunity to compete against athletes from other teams since our return from the holiday break. Road to Paris/Senior Development Invite January 14-16 La Mirada hosted a three-day prelims-finals meet during MLK weekend for Senior-level athletes throughout SoCal. Prelim sessions were held short course yards before the pool was flipped to long course meters for finals to give athletes an opportunity to qualify for the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials. Go the Distance Intrasquad Meet January 13-14, 2023 Our team started 2023 with many of our athletes swimming longer events, many for the first time ever! Our two-day intrasquad provided many opportunities for us to get out of our comfort zones and race in events we don’t normally do, or haven’t done in a very long time. 2022 Speedo Sectionals La Mirada, CA December 16-19, 2022 We had a very strong showing over 3.5 days of racing at Sectionals as our Senior Division athletes closed out the December Championship season. With this meet being right in the middle of school finals, our student-athletes really showed off their abilities to balance both academics and athletic performances.
