14&Under SCS Spring Age Group Champs March 16-19 The 2023 edition of Southern California Swimming’s premier Age Group Championships made its return to the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center this year and the meet proved to be very successful. We are so proud of the 43 Rose Bowl athletes who represented us at the meet! There were many notable performances, highlighted by personal bests. More importantly, we stepped up as a team and got behind each other for every race and relay in a very fun and enjoyable way. It was...

2023 Spring Speedo Sectionals March 1-5 We had 50 Rose Bowl athletes make the trip to Carlsbad for the 2023 Speedo Spring Sectionals. This was our largest team ever at this meet and we used our strength in numbers to our advantage. Our team stepped up and was very successful. After 3.5 days of racing over seven sessions, our Women and Men combined to take the team title. We experienced the many ups and downs of a Championship meet. We saw our team break multiple Rose Bowl and Southern California...

2023 Pacific Committee Finale March 4 The Pacific Committee Finale meet provided an opportunity for many of our athletes to close out the Short Course season with a championship meet. Many of our Rose Bowl athletes achieved lifetime best times and it was a wonderful ending to the season before we transition to the Long Course season. The PAC Finale meet was the perfect springboard for our athletes to experience racing in new events. There were many opportunities to race in relays with teammates and experience a Championship meet for...

2023 Pacific Committee Championships February 24-26 The 2023 PAC Champs was a meet to remember in so many ways. In addition to our athletes putting up many personal lifetime best times, Southern California also experienced some record-setting numbers in rain and temperatures. Despite the less-than-ideal weather conditions, Rose Bowl Aquatics stepped up and showed real grit all weekend long. Rose Bowl athletes, families, and coaches focused on the controllables and made the best of a weekend that we will always remember. We came together and made some real core memories...

Asian American and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) Lunar Festival February 17-20 The AAPI Lunar Festival held at the Marguerite Recreation Center in Mission Viejo offered a prelims-finals meet opportunity before our Age Group swimmers headed into Spring Championship meets. We raced with plenty of excitement and passion and it resulted in many second swims in finals as well as season and personal best times. We continued to grow and learn about our abilities by racing in many more events than we were used to. A big thank you to everyone who...

Polar Plunge Meet at Torrance January 28-29 The Polar Plunge, in many ways, was a great test for our age group athletes. It was the first travel meet of the new year. It was the first ever travel meet for many of the newest members of our team. It was everyone’s first opportunity to compete against athletes from other teams since our return from the holiday break. The weather constantly tested us on both days of the meet: warm and sunny one minute, then cold and cloudy the next. Through...

Road to Paris/Senior Development Invite January 14-16 La Mirada hosted a three-day prelims-finals meet during MLK weekend for Senior-level athletes throughout SoCal. Prelim sessions were held short course yards before the pool was flipped to long course meters for finals to give athletes an opportunity to qualify for the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials. Despite the weather being less than optimal and racing in both pool formats, our Rose Bowl athletes swam very well and with some great efforts throughout each session. We took both the rain and sunshine in stride...

Go the Distance Intrasquad Meet January 13-14, 2023 Our team started 2023 with many of our athletes swimming longer events, many for the first time ever! Our two-day intrasquad provided many opportunities for us to get out of our comfort zones and race in events we don’t normally do, or haven’t done in a very long time. We did an incredible job of shaking off the post-holiday blues and successfully raced through two days. A special shoutout to our Rose Bowl athletes who swam in events for the first time....

2022 Speedo Sectionals La Mirada, CA December 16-19, 2022 We had a very strong showing over 3.5 days of racing at Sectionals as our Senior Division athletes closed out the December Championship season. With this meet being right in the middle of school finals, our student-athletes really showed off their abilities to balance both academics and athletic performances. The ability to balance both school and swim is what makes these student-athletes so impressive. No excuses were made, just simply taking care of business with swim performances fueld by excellent efforts...
