17 of our SACMA swimmers attended the Splash and Dash pentathlon in Albany on February 24th. Congratulations to everyone on your hard-earned times and training dedication leading up to the meet. A big thank you to all the coaches for the workouts that prepared us for the meet, including relays off the blocks and stroke-heavy workouts those last few weeks. It was lovely to see everyone cheer each other on and bask in the excitement. We finished the meet with relays and those were equal parts fun and chaotic! Interesting...

What a fun night bowling with the team! The swimmers got some land exercise in on Friday during bowling and some surprising people came out on top in their lanes (not swimming lanes). Props to Rio's coach Mark for being the only one to fully embrace the disco theme that day!

2023 is behind us but it was a great year for our swimmers and SACMA and I hope the 2023 vibes are a harbinger of a hopeful 2024. Our year finished with a bang at our annual Holiday party and there were no shortages of food, drinks, gifts, and laughs. We were all winners at the gift exchange but none in comparison to Monica and Dah who must have unwrapped half the gifts! Special thanks to our gracious and hospitable hosts Diana, Rachel, and Theo!! Thank you for the coaches...

Congratulations to Judah Grossman for receiving 2023 Pacific Masters Swimming Appreciation Award! Thanks to Judah for establishing us as an independent swim team. By filing with the state, Judah formed our nonprofit swim team in 2021. With the guidance from volunteer attorney, John Davis, he drafted and finalized our team’s bylaws. He formed the Board of Directors and guided meeting agendas such as setting membership dues and choosing practice times. He secured an accountant for our taxes and pay stubs and found an HR firm to give employee on board...

6 Sacramento Masters swimmers competed at the Pacific Masters Kerry O'Brien SCM Championships on Oct. 7-8 in Walnut Creek! Major kudos go out to the 5 swimmers that participated at both Saturday and Sunday's events: Laura, Monica C., Nick, Val, and Jackson! Congratulations on all your times and team relays! These 5 swimmers were able to catapult SACMA to 6th place and 13th place for small teams and for all teams, respectively. The ladies once again excelled by placing consistently near the top within their brackets including a couple of...

We had a group of 49 attend Yolo Basin Foundation's Bat Talk and Walk. It is a must see! We got up close to live bats and learned everything you need to know about bats. Then we took a drive to see the bats fly out at dusk. Amazing! To top off the night, we watched a falcon get a bat from the sky. Thank you Gary Funk for that awesome picture! Thank you to Corky Quirk and her team of volunteers for a wonderful tour.

A sunny Saturday on August 12th at Donner Lake with a sensible 69 ℃ water temperature made for a very nice 2.7-mile swim for SACMA’s 24 registered swimmers, second only to the event’s host team! Congratulations to all our swimmers for their hard-earned times and there’s always next year for achieving a new personal best. Notable mentions go to Laura Gonzalez Ospina, Stephanie Curtis, and Justin Lomas who each took a spot in the top 3 of their respective age group brackets. Congrats, everyone! Many of our swimmers have very...
