Strong Opening Day for Younger JO's

Our younger Coyotes stood up to strong competition on the first day of the Younger Junior Olympics held at Belmont Olympic Pool in Long Beach.  Matt Lynch, Tahlia Vayser, Bailey Wilhelms, Rhys Empey, and Tommy King swam tough in a prelims chock full of the best talent in Southern California and Southern Nevada.  Page Bernhardt, Alexa Bird, and Jonathan Cheng all made finals in double events.  Page finished 12th in the 50 breast and 50 free, Alexa medaled 6th in the 50 breast and finished 15th in the 100 back, and Jonathan rounded out individual finals with 14th in the 50 breast and 12th in the 100 back.  The 10&U girls 200 free relay consisting of Paige Bernhardt, Alexa Bird, Caroline Needell, and Emily Vye finished the day in 10th place.  The combined score for the Coyote team at the end of Day 1 was 44.5 points for 20th place in a field of over 60 teams!
