PALM SPRINGS, CA – October 24, 2022 – Elite Otters Swim Team had some outstanding performances with huge time drops this past weekend swimming at Palm Desert Aquatic Center.  Five Otters were in attendance and their swimming did not disappoint.

Ava Otteson had a phenomenal meet swimming to 6 first place finishes dropping time in every race.  She will go down in history as being the first Elite Otter to ever achieve a Futures Time Standard Cut.  Otteson dropped an impressive 7 seconds in her 200 IM punching her ticket to her first ever Futures Meet to be held in July of 2023.  Otteson also showed no mercy in the 100 Breaststroke where she dropped over 4 seconds achieving a Sectionals Time Standards Cut.

Mia Meyer showed up ready to compete with time drops on her radar.  Meyer dropped time in the 50 Freestyle achieving a Junior Olympics Time Standards Cut.  Additionally, Meyer had an incredible finish in the 100 Freestyle where she crushed her previous time dropping nearly 2 seconds to qualify for a WAGS (Winter Age Group Championship) Time Standard Cut.

Daniela Scott made her initial debut competing in the Girls 13/14 Age Group after just aging up.  She showed that she remains strong competitor and won’t be overlooked even at the bottom of her age group.  Scott finished first in the 200 Butterfly while also smashing the Spring Junior Olympics Time Standard Cut.  Scott also dropped time in her 200 Freestyle and  and 100 Freestyle where she finished in 3rd place.

Coach Laura Otteson commented, “All 3 girls (Ava, Mia, Dani) show up and dominate their work outs in practice.  It’s so much fun to watch them compete and see the time drops.  We’re early in our season, so the skies the limit with all 3 girls!”

Caleb Starke competed in his 2nd swim meet placing 5th place in the 50 Backstroke achieving a personal best time swimming alongside his team mate Landon Lundquist.
