39th Annual Junior Jaguar Invite

39th Annual Junior Jaguar Invite
The second long-course meet of the season was the ASL Junior Jaguar Invite, May 8-10, in Augusta, GA.  Eight Riptides' swimmers travelled to Augusta for the event.  This meet was a huge improvement over the SMRT LC Invite just two weeks earlier.  When all was said and done, the Riptides brought home 12 first-place medals and 40 personal best times.

Mackenzie Angwin competed in her very first long-course meet and did very well competing in all 10 of her events.

Chad Bateson earned 7 personal best times out of 10 events.  Eddie Bateson went 10-for-10 in personal best times and led all Riptides' swimmers with the largest improvement of 16 seconds in the 200 free.

Julia Campbell, competing in her final 11-12 meet, won the 100 breaststroke on her way to 3 personal best times.  Lauren Campbell swept the backstroke events, winning both, and earned 6 personal best times.

Danielle Flaherty had a strange meet, competing with the 8/Unders on Saturday and Senior swimmers on Sunday.  This did not deter her, though, swimming to several best times and a 2nd place finish in the 50 breast and 3rd place in the 100 free.

Megan Kingsley was second for the Riptides in event wins, earning four and also swam to 8 personal best times.  Megan's wins were in the 200- and 400-IM's, 200-free and 200-breastroke.

Keenan Lineback led all Riptides with 5 events wins in the 400- and 800-freestyles, 200- and 400-IM's, and 200-fly.  Keenan also earned three personal best times.  This was Keenan's first long-course meet of the season.

Participation at the meet in Augusta was also a final opportunity to review the site and gather information as we prepare to co-host the 2009 SCS Summer State Championships at the Augusta Aquatics Center in late-July.  We will need every available swimmer and family to attend the meet and assist us in this large endeavor.  Please contact Elaine Campbell ([email protected]), Karla Kingsley ([email protected]) or Christy Lineback ([email protected]) to volunteer.  Thanks!
