Head Coach James Smith was very pleased with the performances of the swimmers.

“The goal of this meet, the first of the season, was to be within 1-3% of personal best times, or 1.5 seconds per minute of their previous best time,” Smith said. “All of the kids were well within that expectation or faster.”

Continued Smith, “We have a few meets before our first ‘focus’ meet which will be in December in Charlotte, NC. Based on how well the swimmers did in Savannah, I have all confidence many goals will be achieved by Charlotte.”

The same weekend one group of swimmers competed in Savannah, another group of MB Riptides were in Mt Pleasant. Seven Riptides’ competed at this event where more records were broken and many best times earned.

Noah Cruz (10/Under) swam to three personal best times, all of which were top-6 finishes. N. Cruz had his largest improvement in the 100-freestyle by over 23 seconds.

Breah Harris (10/Under) picked up three personal best times, including a 9 second improvement in the 50-breaststroke.

Jeremiah Sharp (11-12) earned two best times and competed in six additional events for the first time.

Competing for the first time with the MB Riptides were Garrison Beauprez and Ryan Eldred, both 10/Unders. Rounding out the contingent was Noelle Cruz (11-12).

Age-group Coach Justin Schreer was also excited with the results from the meet.

“We had 18 best times, 18 first-time swims, 8 records and only six dq’s [disqualification] for the entire meet”, said Schreer. “We have to be excited about how the young swimmers are doing considering how new all of the swimmers are in the sport.”
