2010 Senior Circuit, Athens, GA – records and national q-times the norm!
The first event for 2010 for senior members of the Riptides was the Athens Bulldogs’ Senior Circuit meet held at the University of Georgia. This was the first time the Riptides had travelled to Athens for an event.

Keenan Lineback led the Riptides with 5 personal best times for the weekend. Lineback earned best’s in the 100- and 200-breaststrokes, 100-backstroke, 100-freestyle and 200-IM.
Said head coach James Smith, “This was an excellent meet for the swimmers. Coming off of the most intensive holiday training they have ever done, it was questionable as to how fast the girls would race, especially after the tremendous job at our last meet in Charlotte, NC. Swimming to best times at this meet was a perfect way to start 2010. If the girls hadn’t swum a best time, they were mere tenths of seconds over their best.
“I can’t wait to see what the girls can accomplish when they are actually fully rested for their final championship meet of the season,” continued Smith.
Charleston Grand Prix #4 – more best times and records!
The City of Charleston Southern Marlins hosted the final one-day meet of the 2009-10 12/Under Grand Prix Series. The Riptides had 17 swimmers attend the event on January 9. All told, the Riptides garnered 29 personal best times and 4 more team records.
Garrett Beauprez set the new Riptides’ standard in the 11-12 100-butterfly (1:22.60) on his way to a perfect four personal best times.
Ryan Eldred in his first year with the Riptides is making an impression. Eldred set the new standard in the 50-butterfly for 10/Under boys. Eldred also led the Riptides with the single largest improvement of over 16 seconds in the 100-IM, his second team record.
Danielle Flaherty continues her record-setting ways in the girl’s 10/Under division of the Riptides. Flaherty set the new benchmark in the 50-breaststroke (45.48).
Andi Churchill and Zary Gouin joined Garrett Beauprez as the only Riptides to go a perfect 4-for-4 in personal best times. Riptides also earning best times were James Angwin, Mackenzie Angwin, Connor Churchill, Noah Cruz, Shannon Eldred, Jacob Flaherty, Chloe Ladd and Andrew Medrick. Completing the Riptides’ contingent to Charleston were Garrison Beauprez, Noelle Cruz, Madison Fairchild and Rachel Krivanek.
Riptides’ coaches Justin Schreer and Mary Churchill were happy with the performances by the swimmers despite the extreme cold weather. The Riptides had several first-time swims by many swimmers and very few disqualifications.
