The Riptide boys have been swimming really well during this meet. Eddie Bateson had a best time in the 400 IM on Friday and continued his fast swimming today with another best time in the 200 back. He dropped 6 seconds from his seed time in the backstroke. Chad Bateson had two best swims in the 200 back and the 400 free, dropping 4 seconds from each of his times. Connor Churchill placed 8th in the state in the 400 free and dropped 14 seconds off his best time. He also had a best time in the 50 back.
The Riptide girls have had a strong showing in Columbia as well. Megan Kingsley is 1st in the state in both the 200 IM and the 400 free. With these wins, she scored 22 points for the team. Keenan Lineback placed 2nd in the both the 200 IM and the 400 free. She came in the 3rd in the 200 back with a best time in that event. Lauren Campbell came in 6th in the 200 IM, 8th in the 200 back, and 5th in the 400 free with a best of the season time. Julia Campbell placed 18th in the 200 back with a best time in this event. All the hard work these young ladies have put in has certainly paid off. Sahara Lord had a best time in the 50 fly and placed 28th in the state. Ashlyn DeKleva had best times in all her events for the day – 50 fly, 100 free, and 50 back. She place 11th in the finale in the backstroke. Andi Churchill had best times in the 50 back, dropping 1 second, and the 50 fly, dropping half a second.
The Riptides finished the day still tied for tenth place. Way to go everybody! We are all very proud of all your hard work.
