The Myrtle Beach Riptides started the South Carolina State Long Course Meet with strong swims on Thursday’s and Friday’s events.  The girls 800 free relay team, Keenan Lineback, Julia Campbell, Lauren Campbell, and Megan Kingsley, came in 4th place on Thursday night.  What a great team effort!

Both the girls and the boys have had many best times and high finishes so far in this meet.  Lauren Campbell finished 2nd in the 800 free with her best time of the season.  She dropped 14 seconds off  her time since swimming at senior sectionals just a week ago.  Lauren also finished 3rd in the 400 IM, 9th in the 200 free, and 12th in the 100 fly.  Keenan Lineback is also having a great meet with a 4th place finish in the 200 free, 7th place in the 100 fly, and 11th place in the 100 breast.  Julia Campbell had a best time in the 100 fly – she dropped 2 seconds off her seed time.  Megan Kingsley also had a best time in the 200 free.  She dropped .5 seconds off her best time and placed 1st in the race.  Megan also won the 100 fly and came in 4th in the 100 breast.  Ashlyn DeKleva dropped 2 seconds off her 50 free state qualifying time.  She also had best times in the 100 back and the 100 breast dropping 6 seconds on both events.  Andi Churchill dropped 6.5 seconds off her 100 back and came in 8th in the finale meet.  She also dropped 9 seconds off her 200 IM.

Chad Bateson swam the 1500 free on Thursday and dropped his best time by 1 minute.  He finished 17th in the state in this event.  Connor Churchill came in 9th in the 200 IM and dropped his time by 6 seconds.  He also dropped his 100 back time and placed 13th in the state.  Connor came in 3rd in the 50 free in the finale meet.  Sean King had a best time in the 100 back dropping 6 seconds and placing 10th in the state.  He also dropped 1.5 seconds off  his 200 IM and placed 13th.  Jack King had a best time in the 200 back, dropping 5 seconds and finishing 15th in the state meet.  He also swam the 50 free and the 100 back in the finale and placed 8th and 6th respectively.

At the close of events on Friday night, the Myrtle Beach Riptides were in 10th place overall in the Long Course State Championships.  All of our swimmers have done extremely well, both individually and as a team.  Great job, everyone!
