Myrtle Beach Riptides Wraps Up December Meets:
The Myrtle Beach Riptides swim team wrapped up their December meets with events in Charleston, SC and Columbia, SC.

12/Under Grand Prix #3
December 6 was the date for the third edition of the 12/Under Grand Prix Series.  Sixteen members of the Riptides swim team travelled to Charleston, SC for the event and garnered 35 personal best times.

Ella Habib, Kailey Habib and Maddi Pannell led Riptides swimming 4-for-4 personal bests.  Racking up 3 personal bests each were Anaya Brown, Dave Hablani, Prerna Hablani and Ireland Rose.  Jordan Brown, Naveah Johns, Emily Larkins and Rui Zhang each had two bests.  Hannah McDonough (also had single largest improvement), Brady Morris and Stergios Paraschos earned at least one best.  Ella Speir and Chloe Stampfle rounded out the squad to Charleston.

Carolina Classic
The final meet of the calendar for Riptides was the 2014 Carolina Classic at the University of SC.  Nineteen members of Riptides made the trip for the 3-day, prelims/Finals-formatted meet.  Riptides’ swimmers posted their best meet of the season, achieving 120 personal best times, thirteen new SC State Champ qualifying times, ten Age-group Sectional Championship standards, ten new team records and two new Senior Sectional Championship q-times.

Jenn Paul led Riptides with 15 personal best times.  Paul achieved Age-group Sectional Championship standards in the 50- and 500-freestyle events, 100-butterfly and 200-backstroke.  Paul also achieved her first Senior Sectional Championship standard in the 200-freestyle.

Chase Teasley was next in personal best times with 13.

Ian Morgan led Riptides with 6 new team records in the 100-, 200- and 500-freestyle events, 50- and 100-butterfly events, 200-IM and 200-backstroke.  Morgan earned new Age-group Sectional Championship q-times in the 100-free, 200-backstroke and 200-IM.

Yianni Paraschos set new team records in the 100- and 200-breaststroke events.  Paraschos achieved new SC State Champ q-times in the 50-, 200-, 500- and 1000-freestyle events, 100-butterfly, 200-IM and both breaststroke events.  Paraschos’ time in the 200-breaststroke is an Age-group Sectional Champ standard as well.

Eddie Bateson swam to twelve personal best times including a new team record in the 200-breaststroke, which happened to be a new Senior Sectional Championship q-time.  Bateson earned a new SC State Champ time in the 100-backstroke.

Hannah McDonough added three more SC State Champ q-times in the 100-IM, 100-backstroke and 200-freestyle events.

Peyton McWhorter led Riptides with the single largest improvement of more than one-minute in the 1000-freestyle.  McWhorter achieved six best times.

Mackenzie Angwin, Chad Bateson, Mckenzie Bowers, Andi Churchill, Connor Churchill Danielle Flaherty, Jake Flaherty, Kailey Habib, Walker Harwell, Kylie McWhorter, Ethan Nechemia, Maddi Pannell and Ella Speir each swam to multiple best times.
