This year’s Swim-A-Thon will take place on Friday, November 7th from 4:15 – 6:30pm at the Park West Recreation Center. All SCSC swimmers are encouraged to attend and participate, and will have the opportunity to win both individual and group prizes.
What is Swim-A-Thon you ask? Swim-A-Thon is a USA Swimming Foundation approved fundraiser in which participants earn money for their team. Swimmers either get pledges per lap, or flat donations from family and friends prior to swimming. On the day of Swim-A-Thon, swimmers will have a structured practice with their teammates for about half of their allotted time. The remaining water time will be spent completing as many laps as possible. When swimmers are not in the water, they will enjoy a pizza, engage in team-building activities, and help count laps and motivate their teammates during the "open swim" portion of practice.
In order to meet our fundraising goal, we are asking every swimmer to raise $150 (which will also complete your swimmer’s yearly fundraising requirement)! 5% of the gross proceeds will go to the USA Swimming Foundation and the rest will remain right here at SCSC. Our goal for Swim-a-Thon is to have 100% team participation and to raise $22,000!
