Coaches and Directors
Growing up in Queens, NY, Coach Pete was involved in countless sports and swam competitively from age 11 to 18. His High School team (The Stuyvesant Pirates) were 3-time New York City Champions and he was elected captain both his Junior and Senior years. During his Senior season, Pete was a member of two NYC all time record breaking relays. He graduated with a B.S. in Commerce from the University of Virginia, but after working in Manhattan for a year, Pete knew his real passion was coaching and teaching. He went to Queens College to study Physical Education and later taught pre-k through 8th grade. Along his journey to LVSC, Pete has coached an age group swim team in NY, a HS volleyball team, and interned for the National Team Division of USA Swimming at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO.
Since Coach Pete took over as Head Coach, LVSC has doubled in size to more than 200 swimmers. The team went from sending a handful of swimmers to NV State Championships to more than 75% of the team qualifying. Whether the swimmer qualified for their first meet, won State Championships in individual events, or won High Point in their age group, Coach Pete is proud to recognize their growth and accomplishments. Each year brings new opportunities for him to take swimmers to gain experience against competitors at Southern California Swimming meets like June Age Group or Junior Olympics and at USA Swimming meets like Wester Zones and Sectionals.
Currently, Coach Pete is also working as a Personal Trainer (ACSM certified) here in Las Vegas. He is also dedicated to ninja training and competition and has qualified for World Finals of the Ultimate Ninja Athlete Association two years in a row. LVSC is (not so patiently) waiting for him to get his call from American Ninja Warrior any day now!
Amber Stewart was born in Utah but grew up in Texas. At the age of 8, she began her swimming career. In the beginning, she could barely swim the length of the pool. She cried & wanted to quit but her father encouraged her to give it one month. That was all it took. As an age group swimmer she qualified for T.A.G.S. (Texas Age Group Swimming state meet) in Butterfly, Backstroke, Freestyle, and Individual Medley events every year. Over the course of 7 years with STAR swim team she was awarded the prestigious Coaches Award 3 years in a row. A feat that, at the time, had only occurred once prior.
During her high school career, she served as captain 2 out of 3 years. In her spare time she taught swimming lessons and still does, giving her 18 years teaching experience. Her Junior year of high school, she moved to Austin, Texas and trained with the elite Texas Aquatics team under the direction of Whitney Hedgepeth, an Olympic medalist. She was a high point scorer multiple times & competed at the state level.
Upon graduation, Amber furthered her swimming career at Brigham Young University, a Division 1 school. She was appointed to compete on the traveling team and aided in numerous team victories. While there, the women's team won the Mountain West Swimming Championships 3 times.
After graduating, her devotion for swimming continued with various coaching opportunities, founding a summer league swim team in North Carolina, The Gates 4 Gators, & cheering on her three daughters who swims for LVSC. She also loves competing in triathlons and has placed 1st & 3rd in the Amica Irongirl Triathalon in the two times she's competed in it.
Amber is the proud wife to Vaughn and mother to 4 beautiful children, 3 girls and 1 boy. Amber also boasts 8 years of being cancer free!!
Madi was born in Austin, TX in 1990. She grew up in and around
water, as her older sister was a swimmer. She had quite a
journey with competitive success at all levels, and gaining a ton
of different experiences from different coaching styles over the
years. After moving to Plano, TX in 1995, Madi joined City of
Plano Swimmers team (COPS), where she swam for the next 5 years.
She was a highly successful 10&under swimmer when in March
2000, her family moved to Denver, CO, where she continued to swim
for University of Denver Hilltoppers (TOPS). Madi was on a National
Age Group record setting relay at age 11, qualified for Sectionals
at age 13 in the 50 fr, and quickly picked up several more
Sectionals qualifying times over the next few years. In 2006, her
family again moved to Austin, TX, where she finished her high
school swimming career with Capitol of Texas Aquatics (COTA). She
was on 2 National Record setting relays with her Westlake High
School swim team. After graduating high school, she swam Division 1
for two years at Centenary College of Louisiana, and finally ended
her competitive swimming career after 15 years in 2010.
Madi moved to the University of North Texas and graduated in 2013
with a degree in European History. After graduating, she spent 2
years in Denver, only to return to Plano again to be closer to
family. This is where the coaching bug bit her. One of her
former coaches was working at Lakeside Aquatic Club (LAC) in
Keller, TX and reached out to offer her a coaching position. Madi
joins LVSC with 7 years of coaching experience, working with all
levels, but specializing in young age group (12&under) swimmer
development. At LAC she coached learn to swim, competitive
12&unders, dryland, and Masters swimmers. She returned to COPS
in 2017 where she again served in a number of roles. She
wrote the team’s curriculum for learn to swim up to the
competitive level. She was soon promoted to Head Age Group
Coach, which has been her position for the 2 years, serving in a
managerial, organizational, and communication role on top of 20+
hours per week of on deck coaching.
Madi has sent swimmers to Texas Age Group Championships (TAGS)
almost every season over her 7 years of coaching, which is the
biggest and fastest meet in Texas for age group swimmers. She is
passionate about the sport and developing not just the swimmer, but
the person. She loves working with kids, has a heavy emphasis
on technique at a young age, and is driven to impart her love of
swimming into all the swimmers she works with.

Defining Moment with Teammates: “One of the most memorable moments I had in my swim career was the 100 free “Get Out Swim” in practice. If I reached the goal time set by Coach Amber, the group could get out of practice early that day. With my team cheering support, I succeeded in the swim and the excitement was unforgettable. That moment was a defining moment in my life.”
