All swimmers and their parents are required to agree and adhere to the following code of conduct as a condition of their membership in the Pierre Swim Team (PST). The purpose of this code of conduct is to promote the best possible individual, team and program experience for the athletes of PST.
General Code of Conduct Rules
- Swimmers are reminded that they are members of a team and should respect the right of their teammates to a positive training environment. Under no circumstances will bullying, teasing, horseplay, offensive language, or other disrespectful actions be tolerated. Swimmers may be asked to leave practice at the discretion of the coaches.
- Swimmers will display proper respect and sportsmanship toward teammates, coaches, officials, parents, administrators, fellow competitors and the public, to include both person and property.
- All illegal activity, including but not limited to the possession or use of alcohol, tobacco products, or illegal drugs; the illegal sale, distribution or use of any illegal substance; vandalism and/or theft is prohibited. The strictest punishment will be enforced.
- Cell phones and other mobile devices with recording capabilities, including voice recording, still cameras and video cameras increase the risk for different forms of misconduct in locker rooms and changing areas. The USA Swimming Athlete Protection Policies prohibit the use of such devices in the locker room or other changing area.
Team Travel Policy
- Team managers and chaperones must be members of USA Swimming and have successfully passed a USA Swimming-administered criminal background check.
- Regardless of gender, a coach shall not share a hotel room or other sleeping arrangement with an athlete (unless the coach is the parent, guardian, sibling, or spouse of that particular athlete). When only one athlete and one coach travel to a competition, the athlete must have his/her parents (or legal guardians) written permission in advance to travel alone with the coach.
Electronic Communication
- All communications between a coach or other adult and an athlete must be professional in nature and for the purpose of communicating information about team activities. The content and intent of all electronic communications must adhere to the USA Swimming Code of Conduct.
Should disciplinary actions need to be taken; parents/guardians will be notified as soon as possible.
As a member of the Pierre Swim Team, I and my registered swimmer(s) understand and agree to comply with the above guidelines set forth by PST. I accept and agree to the terms of this Code of Conduct. (When you register online, this is agreed upon at that time).
