Our team is a year-round competitive USA Swimming team offering high quality, professional coaching and technique instruction for all ages and abilities. The goal of our team is to promote a lifetime of wellness through the sport of swimming in a safe and inclusive environment.

1. What is Life Time Swimming?  Life Time Swimming was formed as an evolution of the Life Time Fitness recreational swim program.  Life Time Swimming’s mission is to offer each athlete educational and participatory opportunities in order to achieve their goals, and to keep practice and competition fun!

2. What makes the Life Time swimming coaching staff different?  Each member of the coaching staff is a credentialed member of USA-Swimming, having successfully passed several pre-certification requirements including Red Cross CPR, First-Aid and Coaches Safety Training, and must participate in USA-Swimming Level II National Background check and Athlete Protection Education.

Our coaching staff also has a wide variety of experience from both on the deck and in the water!  We implement a strong focus on technique and stroke development as emphasized by the American Swim Coach Association.  Before we concern ourselves with speed we first develop the proper techniques and physiological skills that are necessary to elevate swimmers to the next level.

3. Does my swimmer have to come to every practice?  The simple answer is No.  Each training level of the Life Time Swimming team will offer practices during the week and each level will have recommendations, particularly for younger swimmers.
However, as the swimmer matures and begins to achieve at higher levels, then practice requirements will be instituted for the long-term development and health of the swimmer.

4. Will my child get individual attention?   Yes, because each group is limited in the number of swimmers, individual critiquing is ensured.

 5. Will my child have FUN?  Yes, the coaching staff enjoys having a great time at practice and at meets.  Practices will be challenging for all swimmers and the swimmers will learn completing a tough set or tough practice is fun and rewarding.

6. How will my swimmer be evaluated for group promotion?  The Life Time Swimming coaching staff is constantly evaluating their athletes during practices and maintaining an up to date database of each swimmer’s meet results.  Take a look at our group placement link under groups.

Any swimmer moving into a new group will go through a transition period to adjust to their new group.  This period may take a couple weeks up to a month, depending on the athlete.

7. Does my swimmer have to compete at meets?  Just like practices, the simple answer is No, but competition is the best way for the athlete to gauge their improvement.

As the swimmer progresses, just as in training, meet participation will become more vital and there may be requirements for a certain number of meets attended during a season.

8. Is there a Life Time Swimming uniform?  Yes!  Life Time Swimming is partnered with Speedo.  Swimmers can purchase a team suit online from the Life Time Swimming website...  Team swim caps will be available from the coaching staff.

Swimmers will be required to wear the team suit and team cap when at meets, but can wear what they would like to practice.

 9. Are there additional fees?  As a member of Life Time Swim Team Southeast, every member will have to join USA-Swimming (Year round swimmers only!!!).

This is an annual fee.  Membership into USA-S begins the day you return required paperwork and check and expires on Dec 31 of the next year
.
You will not have to rejoin USA-S until the next fall.

There is a charge for meet entries, which vary depending on the meet’s host.

All information regarding meets is sent out via the Life Time Swimming website once it becomes available.

Sign-up for meets is also done via the Life Time Swimming website through each member’s account.

10. Can we start or stop at anytime?  Yes, swimmers can join the team at any time of the year, but must follow the Life Time Fitness protocol by giving 30 days written notice so as to not be billed.

One of the keys to success is consistency in training and competition, so while younger athletes are encouraged to participate in other sports as well as swimming, the coaches  encourage each athlete to do their best to continue to swim as often as possible.

 11. How do I get my child started? Each new child who wishes to join Life Time Swim Team Southeast is required to complete a swim assessment for group placement and to assess if they are actually prepared for the swim team.  Contact the head coach in order to schedule an assessment.

 12. What is the difference between summer league swim and year-round swim?  We are a year-round team that runs workouts and participates in USA-Swimming meets all year long.  ALL swimmers must be registered with USA-Swimming to participate.
