Larissa Dowling Signs with Berry College

Congratulations to Larissa Dowling, as she recently signed to swim for the Berry College Vikings!  The campus of Berry College is picturesquely located on the northern outskirts of Rome, Georgia.  Larissa signed her scholarship papers in a special all-school ceremony at her high school (Westminster Christian Academy) on May 10, 2023.

 

Larissa has swum with MSA for her entire swimming life... 11 years!  As a high-schooler, Larissa scored individual and relay points at the Alabama State High School Championships for all 6 years of her eligibility (i.e., from 7th grade through 12th grade), and was instrumental in Westminster Christian Academy's dynasty in winning the Alabama State Championships for 4 consecutive years!  Not only does Larissa bring her "sprint freestyle" expertise, which is the core need for any college program, but she packs a solid Breaststroke into her suitcase as well :)

 

Berry College competes in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA), comprising 8 schools across the southeast.  Typically, the Berry College Lady Vikings place 4th at the Conference Championships, some distance behind the perennial front-runners (Rhodes College, Centre College, and Birmingham Southern).  With her sprint-freestyle expertise, Larissa brings a powerful weapon to the table, as she will immediately contend for a spot on the Berry 200 Free Relay, and has repeatedly posted times that would score in the "B" Final at the SAA Championships in both the 50 Freestyle and the 100 Breaststroke.
