TRYOUTS FOR RSD SWIM TEAM

Schedule:
Currently our tryouts are postponed as most practice groups are at capacity. Please review the minimum requirements and if your swimmer is ready or close to ready, you may secure your spot on the interest/waitlist here. Invites for tryouts are emailed and a sign-up rsvp is required to attend. Tryouts are limited to space available for specific ages/practice groups. First-time swimmers and those with prior team experience should get on the waitlist as the first step.
Swim Team Tryout options:
A. New Member Tryouts ages 12.5 and younger
B. New Member Tryouts ages 12.5 and older (includes 12 yr. old swimmers turning 13 within 4 months of tryout date).
C. Prior competitive swim team experience/transfer
A. New Member Tryouts: (ages 12.5/younger)
One-on-one individual evaluation - your child will be asked to pass the minimum skills listed below:
- 100-yard Freestyle with side breathing under 3:00
- 50-yard Backstroke under 1:45
- 25-yard Butterfly under 1:00
- 25-yard Breaststroke under 1:00
Swimmers who pass the swim evaluation will be assigned to the appropriate training group and invited to register/start with the team or will complete registration and be placed on the waitlist if a given practice group is at capacity.

B. New Member Tryouts: (ages 12.5/older)
Swim practice evaluation - your child will be asked to pass the minimum skills listed below:
- 2 x 100-yards freestyle under 1:55 with :30 rest between
- 100-yard Backstroke under 2:00
- 50-yard Butterfly under :55
- 100-yard Breaststroke under 2:10
- Safe headfirst dive from side of the pool and starting blocks.
Swimmers who pass the swim evaluation will be assigned to the appropriate training group and invited to register/start with the team or will complete registration and be placed on the waitlist if a given practice group is at capacity.

C. Prior competitive swim team experience/transfer from another team
We have a limited number of open spots in our more competitive practice groups for swimmers with prior USA swim team experience.
Swim practice evaluation - your child will be evaluated by joining one or more swim practices to determine proper group placement. Following group placement, swimmers will be assigned to the appropriate training group and invited to register/start with the team or will register and be placed on the waitlist if the practice group is at capacity.
How to schedule an evaluation: Please provide the following information:
- swimmer full name
- age & DOB
- swim practice frequency and duration per week (differentiate swim and land times if applicable)
- years with current swim team
- competition results -- USA/swim meet best times or unofficial/practice times
- If you are local, please include your reason for inquiring about RSD. RSD is considerate of our relationship with other teams in the area. We encourage open and transparent communication from you to your current coach/team prior to considering moving to RSD.
