The Ramona Swim Team offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is the goal of RST to offer age-specific training for all our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing each child to the best of THEIR abilities.

At ALL levels, there is an emphasis on character building, especially as related to courage, integrity, teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship.  Swimmers must have an equipment bag that includes a kickboard, pull buoy, fins, and for Jr. Bulldogs & Bulldogs - paddles as well. An equipment bag will be provided to new swimmers when they register. 

 

Novice 2 Days - $400 per season

For ages 12 and under only

Our Novice 2 Day a week program is the extension of our lessons program for all swimmers who have little to no experience on a competitive swim team.  The Novice Team teaches the fundamentals of freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke kick and dolphin kick. The practice consists of approximately 95% technique focus and 5% training elements. Swimmers will learn greater safety and comfort in the water as well as develop an enjoyment of the sport. There will not be an instructor in the water with the athletes. Swimmers MUST join for the entire season.

REGISTRATION FEES: There are two required registration fees for this group. 

  • First, a fee of $15.00 per child (paid upon registration) entitles you to Ramona Swim Team membership.  This also allows you to participate as a member in our Non-Profit Organization.  First-time registrants will receive an equipment bag which they will be required to bring to practice.  Swimmers will be responsible for replacing lost or damaged equipment.  Summer RST Registration fees are included in your dues.

  • The second fee is USA Swimming Membership (paid after team registration has been accepted).  PREMIUM ATHLETE membership is $85.00 per year.  First time swimmers only may purchase a FLEX Registration at $35.00.  The FLEX USA Swimming membership entitles you to attend two swim meets per year.  Prior to attending a third swim meet in a calendar year, the FLEX registration must be upgraded to PREMIUM.  USA Swimming registrations expire on the last day of the calendar year and will need to be renewed as a PREMIUM ATHLETE membership for $85.00.  Once your registration to our team has been approved, you will receive an email with instructions and a link to pay the USA Swimming Registration.

  • All Swim meets have additional fees that vary meet to meet.

Swimmers must be able to complete the following prior to acceptance to Novice 1 Team:

25 Yds Freestyle with side breathing

Novice practice is offered at the SDCEA pool during the school year:

2 days a week Monday & Wednesday 3:30-4:30 PM OR Tuesday & Thursday 3:30-4:30 PM

Novice - $550 per season

For ages 12 and under only

Our Novice Team is the advanced portion of our lesson/recreational program for all swimmers who have some experience on a competitive swim team.  Novice Team teaches freestyle, backstroke, breastroke and butterfly, as well as racing Starts, turns, and underwaters.  Swimmers also learn the basics of training, including how to swim sets, read a pace clock, and understanding of swimming vocabulary.  The practice consists of approximately 80% technique focus and 20% learning to train. Swimmers will learn many aspects of competitive swimming. Swimmers MUST join for the entire season.

100 yards of freestyle with Side Breathing

50 yards of backstroke

Novice practice is offered at the SDCEA pool during the school year:

4 days a week Monday - Thursday 4:30-5:30 PM

Competitive Team - $660 per season

For ages 10-18 only

Our Competitive Team is considered our competitive team for this age group.  In this group we will build on the fundamentals taught in the Novice Group.  All four strokes will be further developed to enhance speed at competition. The practice consists of approximately 50% technique focus and 50% training. Swimmers will be expected to attend swim meets and commit to training 10 hours a week (5 practices).

 Swimmers MUST join for the entire season.

  • First, a fee of $15.00 per child (paid upon registration) entitles you to Ramona Swim Team membership. Currently, the team pays for local Championship Meet Fees but Athletes will be required to pay for travel meet fees and expenses.  This also allows you to participate as a member in our Non-Profit Organization.  Summer RST registration fees are included in your dues.

Competitive Team 3 Days a week - $525 per season

For ages 10-18 only

This group has the same requirements as the full Competitive Group but is restricted to only practice 3 days a week. This is designed for older athletes that are participating in multiple sports and is not designed as an introduction to the program of older participants that do not have the requisite skills for the program. Expectations remain the same as the Full group.

5 days a week Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 5:30 - 7:30 PM (Depending on Season)

High School Prep Team - $440 per season

For ages 14-18 and attending RHS with intent to participate on the RHS Swim Team

The High School Prep group is the same as the competitive group for all requirements but is set on a billing cycle that matches with when the High School Swimming season starts on Febuary 9th. This group runs from December 1 through the start of High School on February 9th.

 Swimmers MUST join for the entire season.
