New Ballet Ensemble and School brings children and youth together by providing a professional standard of dance training, regardless of the ability to pay.

Founded in 2001, New Ballet is a thriving after school dance program in the heart of Cooper-Young in Midtown Memphis. Dancers from all over the Mid-South fill our studios six days a week, training and exploring cultural forms of dance alongside a strong classical ballet curriculum. New Ballet's artistic approach is a synthesis of many cultures coming together in the heart of a great, diverse city.

For our youngest students, we offer Creative Movement, Pre-Ballet, and Boys Technique, each of which serves as an excellent introduction to movement and utilizes a playful approach. We also offer high-quality instruction in Ballet, Hip Hop, Memphis Jookin, West African, Flamenco, Modern, Tap, and more for our advanced students.

In 2014, New Ballet was awarded the National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award, presented by former First Lady Michelle Obama. The award recognizes the country’s best creative youth development programs that use engagement in the arts and humanities to increase self-direction, academic achievement, graduation rates, and college enrollment.
