How to Write Events on Your Swimmer's Arm

Debby Newman

Here is an example of how to write your Swimmer's info on their arm for Swim Meets. This is recommended for all 10&Under swimmers and new swimmers. You can also write the info on a small sheet of paper, if your swimmer prefers to not have the writing on their arms.

  • This info is on the final heat sheet that is sent/posted for each meet.
  • Search swimmer for Event#, Heat# and Lane#.
  • Use a sharpie marker. Pen will wash off in the water each time they get in the water. We want it to last the entire meet.
  • This helps the Coaches, Clerk of Course, and Timers to know where you swimmer should be for each event.
  • PLEASE mark your swimmer (or give them their events) before the meet and warm-ups.
  • It is hard to write on wet arms, as well as scrambling through the heat sheets to find their info right before the meet. Doing this before will prepare your swimmer for their events, as they will know what they are swimming and when.
