Kyle Trelka Admin Coach

Coach Kyle started his swimming career at an early age.  Due to his extremely high energy and constant wiggles, his mother put him in every sport she possibly could.  In swim lessons at the age of six, the swim instructors were quite sure Kyle was a good swimmer but he was constantly at the bottom of the pool diving and swimming around.  They suggested that he try the swim team.  He found his niche.  By the end of his six-year-old season, he was hooked on practice and winning ribbons, medals, and trophies at meets.  At the age of 10, Kyle was ranked in the top 16 in the nation for YMCA swimming in the backstroke.

In high school Kyle had the opportunity to work with many different coaches and great teammates.  In 2005 and 2006 his high school team won the Wisconsin division 2 State Championship meets.  In 2008 Kyle won the 100 backstroke and 100 freestyle at division 2 state earning him some looks from several mid major division 1 NCAA colleges as well as division 2 and 3 schools.

Swimming at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Kyle was part of a three-time Horizon League Conference championship team.  He received rookie of the year in 2009, voted team captain both Junior and Senior year, and voted MVP his Senior year.  He is extremely grateful for the time he had at Milwaukee and his amazing coaches and teammates who pushed him to be his best.

After college swimming Kyle spent some time abroad in South Korea and then worked a corporate job for two years.  After two years of being in the office, the passion for swimming had not worn off.  With a lot of prayers and family encouragement, Kyle and his wife Shari decided to make a big life change and move to Florida so Kyle could pursue his coaching career.

In August of 2016 Kyle took the position as the Head Swim and Dive coach of Clearwater High School.  Two months later, Kyle was able to assume the role of head coach of a club swim team in Pinellas County which is now Radiant Aquatics.

Kyle has already seen several impressive bench marks in his short time as head coach.  He has had the opportunity to coach several swimmers who have qualified for All-American Consideration, one of these being the 2016 and 2017 Florida 3A High School State Champion in the 100 backstroke.  He has also qualified multiple swimmers to USA Swimming Futures and this past summer season his team was a dominant force at the AAU Jr. Olympics Swim Meet.

In December of 2023, Coach Kyle moved to Kearney, NE to take over as the head coach for Women's Swimming and Diving at UNK which is an NCAA Division 2 program.  He is still involved in the backend of the team and loves to hear how his former Florida swimmers are doing!
