Angie Carter
Head Coach
Silver 1 & Purple
As Head Coach, Angie Carter brings years of swim experience to the CHRISTUS program. She began her swim career in Knoxville, TN swimming summer league and with Pilot Aquatic Club. After a family move to Fort Myers, FL she began training with Swim Florida under Coach Mac Kennedy and was a Florida high school state champion and junior national qualifier. In college, she swam at the University of Tennessee, earning a degree in Sport Management.
Angie started coaching in Louisiana at the summer league level in 2008 when her children joined the sport. While maintaining her connection with summer league she quickly moved to a developmental position and eventually to Associate Head Coach with CHRISTUS Louisiana Aquatics.
Her experience training, competing and coaching the sport, along with her creativity, energy and passion for investing in the lives of people is an incredible asset to the CHRISTUS program. Angie is an ASCA Level 4 Performance Certified coach. She is married to fellow University of Tennessee swimmer, Steve Carter and they have 2 children, Grace and Graham.
Daniel Crews
Assistant Coach
Silver 2, Middle/High School, Gold & Purple
Daniel began his swim career right here in Shreveport, LA, swimming summer league with Town South at the age of 9. After that first summer, he was hooked and joined the City of Shreveport Swim Team’s year-round competition team. Daniel eventually worked his way up to the Elite Group under Coach Butch Jordan, and became a state champion in 2015.
Daniel taught swim lessons and helped coach a local summer league team in high school, before attending Northwestern State University, earning a degree in Business Administration. After graduation, Daniel attended Louisiana State University Shreveport, earning his Master of Business Administration degree and now works at a digital marketing agency while giving back to the sport he loves by coaching for CHRISTUS Louisiana Aquatics Club.
His experience in and passion for the sport, as well as his energy and positive, can-do attitude is an incredible asset to CHRISTUS Louisiana Aquatics.
Taylor Charles (TC)
Assistant Coach
Silver 2, Middle/High School
TC joined CLAC in the fall of 2023 as a volunteer assistant with Silver 2. Prior to his previous stint with the YNWL Bolts, he coached for three years with the Mississippi Makos, contributing to the development of numerous state and zone champions, as well as multiple Sectionals, Futures, and Junior National qualifiers.
TC’s competitive career began in Nashville, TN, at Nashville Aquatic Club, where he earned a qualification for the 2012 US Olympic Trials in the 400 Individual Medley and raced numerous Junior National and US National Championships finals heats. Collegiately, TC swam five total years for the University of Alabama, most notably marked by yearly letterman performances at the SEC Championships and appearances at the 2016 US Olympic Trials in the 200/400 Individual Medley and the 200 Butterfly.
TC holds degrees in biochemistry and biomedical sciences, and currently works as an Analyst at Artia Solutions. TC and his wife, Keely, and his dachshund, Grignard, love the CLAC family and couldn’t imagine being part of a better athletic community!
