AMANDA BEERY, PROGRAM DIRECTOR & HEAD COACH
Amanda is the founder and director of Wave Cheer. She started cheering in middle school and continued through high school and college at Liberty University.  After graduation, she staffed for the Fellowship of Christian Cheerleaders for several summers working with teams all across the nation. Amanda has coached for over 20 years in both the private and public school system and owned a local cheer gym for 8 years. She owns and operates Xcellence Choregoraphy & Consulting where she has created and coached nationally ranked routines all over the East Coast. She is the Virginia Rep for FCC and has assisted in starting all of th VA & NC Impact programs and has a heart for mentoring coaches.  Amanda was named Coach of the Year in 2016 and was inducted into the FCC Hall of fame in 2018, which is the organizations highest honor for a coach. Amanda started Wave Cheer in 2018 with 22 girls in the Wave Church lobby. Her heart is to mentor the lives of athletes through the sport of cheerleading. Though she has coached many teams to National titles and accomplishments, she stands firm on the mission that our program is not about the trophy! Amanda's focus is on developing the lives of athletes so they can be sucessful in life beyond their years in cheer. She believes Excellence is in the details; and her coaching motto is "love them to it"! Amanda and her husband Jason have been married for over 10 years and have 2 daughters, Autumn and Alyssa, both who participated in and graduated from Wave Cheer.
 
APRIL SHERMAN, ADMINISTRATIVE DIRECTOR
April has worked in Administrative, Operations, and Financial Management for over 20 years. She has her MBA from Averett University and has worked as  a Program Director in government contracting for the last 10 years. She  excels at multitasking,  organization, and support. April and her husband, Chris, were married in 1999 and have two daughters, Christina and Samantha. Christina served as the Coach of the Wave Cheer Guppies for 3 years. Samantha is now a Wave Cheer Alumni and Coach as she graduated at the end of Season 6 with 5 years on the Wave Sharks. April began volunteering her time to Wave Cheer in Season 2 and enjoys working with the coaches, parents, and teams.
 
JENNIFER DUDLEY, COACH
Jennifer Dudley began coaching with Wave Cheer in Season 2. Prior to Wave, she coached with River Oak Mighty Oaks and the KCC Crusaders. Jennifer is a rockstar Realtor and has been married for 29 years to Duane and have 3 children-Savannah, Colton and Jenny-Kate. Jenny-Kate is now a Wave Cheer Alumni as she graduated following her 6th season with Wave Cheer. Jennifer loves the opportunity to pour into and help shape the lives of her athletes!
JANEL FOSTER, COACH

Coach Janel has volunteered her time as an Impact cheer coach since 2017 and just completed her fifth season with Wave Cheer. Outside of cheer, she is a wife of 19 years to her husband Theron, mother to her three children Delaney (15), Evan (12), and Mariella (10), and a board certified Obstetrician-Gynecologist at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth where she previously served as a Naval Officer for nine years. Coach Janel enjoys cooking, traveling and doing puzzles in her spare time and feels blessed to have been called to serve and teach others.

 
MELANIE PARRISH, COACH
Coach Melanie has been on staff at Wave Church for over 15 years. She was the Nursery Director and now holds an administrative role. She is a huge asset to our administrative team at Wave Cheer as well. Her attention to detail and ability to organize are just two of her amazing gifts. She also leads a community group and coaches other group leaders on how to cultivate community.  She is encouraged and eager to continue to mentor and grow our littlest loves at Wave Cheer! Melanie and her husband Mike have two daughters, Brooklyn and Morgan. Both girls, as well as her niece Emma, all participate in Wave Cheer.
NICOLE KITTRELL, COACH
Nicole is a former cheerleader and has been a cheer coach going on 9 years.  This season will be her 5th year coaching for Wave Cheer.  Nicole loves the Wave Cheer program as it not only focuses on cheerleading with excellence, but spiritual growth as well!   Nicole has been married to Evan for 25 years and has 2 daughters, Sydney and Hailey.  Sydney participated in Wave Cheer for 5 years; and Hailey is in her 5th year at Wave.  Nicole regularly attends and serves at Liberty Live Church. 
ERIN BRISCOE, COACH
Erin fell in love with cheerleading during high school when introduced to competition cheerleading. It was the love for the sport, but more than anything, the friendship and love that came from her coach and teammates that made such an impact. She started her coaching career at Greenbrier Christian Academy where she coached from 2017 to 2019. When COVID took place she started homeschooling her three children and working towards her Masters Degree in Nursing. In 2022 she started coaching for Wave Cheer. Erin has three girls who also have a love for the sport, Gracie, Averi, and Blakely. When she is not coaching, she is working as a Nurse Practitioner or spending time with her girls.
SAMANTHA SHERMAN, COACH
Samantha (Sami) is a Wave Cheer Alumni. She has been a sideline and competitive cheerleader since 3rd grade. Sami cheered for CTK School, Independence Middle School and First Colonial High School. She joined Wave Cheer in its second season and was a member of the Wave Sharks team for 5 years earning two National titles during that time. While competing on the Sharks, Sami was also a Junior Coach for the Guppies and Seahorses for 4 years. She graduated at the end of Season 6 and began coaching in Season 7. In addition to cheer, Sami is a Sophomore at Liberty University and enjoys mentoring young people as a leader in Wave Church Royal Youth.
AMANDA TYLER, COACH
Amanda (Mandy) has 30 years of involvement in Wave Church and a deep-rooted commitment to the community. She has worked as a teacher for over two decades and is currently a VBCPS Elementary School Librarian. In addition, Mandy is a proud parent of 3. Her sons both serve in the military and her youngest, Emma, has been a part of Wave Cheer since its inaugural year. Emma is two-time National champion Sharks cheerleader and is a proud Junior Coach of the Stingrays. Mandy's familial connection adds a personal touch to her coaching style, as she understands the dynamics of the team from both a coach and a parent's perspective. As the current coach of our youngest team, Mandy believes in fostering a sense of community within the team, creating an environment where every cheerleader feels valued, supported, and encouraged to reach their full potential.
MEGAN MATTHEWS, COACH
Megan began her cheerleading career in middle school and continued to cheer competitively through her Freshman year of college. During that time she was able to spend a number of those years learning from, and cheering under, Coach Amanda. Post graduation Megan was able to go back to her alma mater and spent 6 seasons coaching for the WB competitive cheer team. It was there that her love for coaching really grew. Megan and her husband Stephen have been married for 12 years and have three kids Harlow, Hadley, and Harrison. In 2021, their daughters interest in cheerleading brought them to the Wave Cheer program and in 2023, Megan’s love for coaching and her girls love of the sport collided and began Megan’s Wave Cheer coaching career.
