MJ Teixeira- Senior Silver
Coach MJ started her swimming career with Summer League at Club Brittany. Growing up in Virginia Beach near the ocean, surfing + lifeguarding, swimming came naturally, but her love for intensity, competing, and racing was what made her certain this was the sport she wanted to seriously pursue. She joined TIDE Swim Team in Virginia Beach in 8th grade and dove in head first! Swimming became more than a fun sport to do, it is where she learned much about life. She honed in on discipline, work ethic, confidence and more. This sport became a safe place for her, not only in swimming, but in life.
She continued her swimming career in high school still with TIDE, and joined First Colonial High School's team for their winter seasons. She then went on to be a collegiate athlete swimming Division 1 for Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Georgia as a sprinter and breaststroker. In her time at GSU, she coached Winter League for a local Georgia team, as well as coming back to Virginia Beach in the summers and coaching Summer League for Little Neck. She loves coaching, because although she may have been a little later to the game for competitive swimming, her coaches changed the trajectory of her life by getting her up to speed and pushing her past her limits. She looks forward to now doing that for her NOVA swimmers and teaching them not only about swimming, but how these skills can translate to life, on and off the pool deck.
She has been with NOVA since May 2022 helping with lessons, stroke school and now assisting with the team's Senior Silver Group
