6th Consecutive Win for Wave Swim Team
The Fox Valley Wave swim team won its sixth consecutive Division 2 championship at the Wisconsin 13-and-older Long Course State Swim Meet August 1-4 in Brown Deer. Thirty-three of the team’s swimmers qualified to attend the meet.
The Wave scored 1537 points to win the division by more than 1100 points. In all, Wave swimmers brought home 73 medals, including five 1st place finishes: Michael Lagieski won the boys’ 17 & over 100-meter breaststroke and 200-meter breastroke; Garner Kohrell won the boys’ 15-16 200-meter butterfly; Josiah Vandenberg won the boys’ 13-14 100-meter butterfly; and the boys’ Senior 400-meter medley relay was won by Lagieski, Kohrell, Dan Gilbertson, and Jordan Kinney.
Other medalists include Brianna Arnold, Olivia Bartel, Hannah Beckwith, Connor Deitrich, Jill Georgen, Abbey Greeneway, Bri Gries, McKenzie Goudreau, Abby Hollub, Britt Horn, Manny Hernandez, Dani Klunk, Sumner Latta, Ryan Revolinski, Hannah Sisto, and Anna Verkuilen.
The Wisconsin 12-and-younger State Swim Meet was held from July 26-28 in Brown Deer. Ten swimmers from Fox Valley Wave swam at that meet. Of those swimmers, Sophie Brackett, Anna Murphy-Pociask, and Mari Seidler also qualified to swim at the Central USA 14-and-younger Zones Swim meet held in Topeka, KS on August 2-4.
