Welcome WAVE Families
Welcome!
What an amazing time! Excitement is in the water!!
As we officially kick off the fall/winter season over the next few days – we wanted to provide some quick updates for the team.
Coaching Update:
You will see a new face on deck this year – Christine Latta will be coaching in multiple groups this year. Christine has experience as a former High School Coach and Club Team Coach in Illinois.
Head Coach: Curt Beutler
Lead Coaches by Group:
Senior : Curt Beutler
Gold: Greg Hollub
Silver: Ruthe Zimmerman
Bronze: Kim Bjork
Bios of all of our coaches can be found on our website (only when logged in) in the upper right hand corner.
Meets:
You will see the first few meets Fond Du Lac/West Bend, Ashwabenon and Howard/Suamico will be coming up in the month of October. Coach Curt will be sending through individual emails when the information has been uploaded and your attention will be needed if you will be attending these meets. Step by step instructions on how to sign up for the meets will be included in his emails. For new members – any of the meets in October would be great first meets.
New Parent Orientation Meeting:
Please click on New Parent Education to get some basic things to know about our team and what to expect at practice, basics about swimming, where to buy equipment etc. We will be having two new parent orientation meetings next week to help answer questions you may have and take you through some of the team basics. Meeting dates are 9/13 – 5:45P Appleton North, 9/16 – 6:00 Appleton North.
Team Buddies:
We are also introducing the concept of “buddy” families this year. Every new family will be assigned an experienced family to partner with to make sure you are off to a good start. They will be assigned within your same swim group or cross swim groups (families with a silver and gold swimmer will be assigned a family with the same).
Thank you to all parents that volunteered to help out. We will be communicating the buddies over the next few days in a separate email communication. Parents not chosen for the 1:1 relationships will still be included on the general list for any general questions that may arise. Please click here to see the list.
Parent Board Update:
Our fearless leader John Deitrich has tendered his resignation from the Board President Position and will be transitioning into a Past President Position. The new Board President will be Kris Horn. We look forward to Kris’ leadership. The other open positions (volunteer coordinator and meet director) will be communicated at a later date.
Scrip Update:
The Wave participates in an opt in fundraising choice which is called scrip. It involves purchasing gift cards for various companies (example Quick Trip, Kohls, Amazon,Taco Bell) and a portion of the money you spend comes back to you as a credit to your family account. More info can be found on our website https://www.teamunify.com/wifvwst/__doc__/Scrip.pdf
or at www.shopwithscrip.com<http://www.shopwithscrip.com>.
Practice Schedule:
Always check the practice schedule under the calendars tab of the site. Use the dropdown menu to choose the swim group. Any changes to the schedule that are major will be pushed out via email. We recommend you check the schedule regularly since Tuesdays (for example) are different every week. There is nothing worse than showing up to a dark pool (because you misread the schedule)!
Team Gear/Apparel Ordering:
Elsmore Aquatics will be at the Neenah High School Pool at 5:30PM – 7:30P on Wednesday 9/25. Elsmore carries a variety of swim gear and apparel. New swimmers wishing to try on team suits in order to figure out what size they are should plan on stopping by and trying on a variety of sizes to get the proper fit. The team suit can only be ordered through Elsmore. Other team gear will also be available for ordering (caps, towels, shirts etc) on this night as well.
Thank you all! We are looking forward to another amazing season. Please don’t hesitate to reach out on the “contact us” tab on the website or to any of the volunteer parents (attached) if you have any questions whatsoever.
GO WAVE!!!
