Have you ever thought about becoming a USA Swimming Official?

The Fox Valley Wave and many other Wisconsin swim clubs are looking to increase our team of officials and NOW is the time to do it!

We are currently offering an apprentice session at the upcoming Bird Bath Swim Meet at Erb Pool!  This is a great opportunity if you have been considering being an official. We currently have two officials with Wave swimmers, it would be great to get so many more!

Why become an official? Several reasons are listed below:

• You get the best poolside view at swim meets.
• Officiating at home meets satisfies our team volunteer requirements.
• Most swim meets provide an officials’ hospitality suite.
• You learn the finer points of stroke technique.
• The swimming community is always looking for officials and becoming one provides young swimmers the opportunity to compete and have fun.
• Without qualified officials we may not have as many meets in Wisconsin :(

To become an official, you must complete an online officials’ test, a background check, athlete protection training, a workshop with USA Swimming officials, and several apprentice opportunities during local meets, including the Bird Bath. Once completed, you only need to officiate four sessions every year to maintain your status.
