Fall/Winter 2023-24 Swim Season Information
Fox Valley Wave families,
Fall/Winter 2023-24 swim season is quickly approaching. PLEASE READ EVERYTHING BECAUSE THERE IS SOME NEW INFORMATION.
The first day of practice will be Monday, September 11th, 2023. We are waiting on pools to finalize our practice schedule. The website will be updated as soon as we have the schedule finalized and an email will be sent out. The pools we are tentatively using for practice this season include Neenah Middle School (former Neenah High School) and Appleton North, West, and East High Schools.
PRACTICE TEAM MOVEMENT
We will have six practice teams this season. Unless you have been approached in person or by email, your child will be in the same practice group they were in for the summer 2023 season.
Our coaching staff has extensive experience and takes into consideration many factors when determining practice team placement. The coaches consider age, ability, attitude, and they also give thought to factors including coachability, maturity level, dedication to the sport. Coaches place swimmers where they will be most successful.
TRANSITION WEEKS
There will be no formal Transition weeks of practice held prior to Fall/Winter season. Take this time to enjoy other activities and sports with family and friends.
STARTS AND TURNS CLINICS
Our coaching staff will be holding two optional clinics the week of August 28- August 31. Registration for these clinics will be communicated by a future email.

Turns Clinic Dates: August 28 & August 30
Starts Clinic Dates: August 29 & August 31
Time: 6p-8p
Cost: $25/clinic
REGISTRATION PROCESS – OPENING FRIDAY September 1st.
1. September 1st – September 6th: All current members (those who swam Summer 2023)
2. September 7st – September 9th: All previously active members that did not swim summer
3. September 10th: Waitlisted swimmers will be notified of openings and be able to register
FORMS TO BE INCLUDED IN REGISTRATION
As part of the registration process, you will be required to review and agree to:
- Code of Conduct, Anti-bullying Policy, and Safe Sport Athlete Protection Training*
- Volunteer and Fundraising Policy Requirements
- Medical Release and Liability Waiver
- Concussion and Covid Waiver
- Photo Release and Electronic Communication Policy
*The Code of Conduct, Anti-bullying Policy, and Safe Sport are IMPORTANT policies you and your swimmer(s) should review TOGETHER! Please make sure to review them with your swimmer(s), so they are clear about the role they play in meeting these team expectations.
FEE STRUCTURE
Fees include Fox Valley Wave participation fee and the $88 USA Swimming registration fee. The USA Swimming Registration is required and includes: Splash monthly magazine, USA Swimming Deck Pass account, and meet insurance. Credit card and/or ACH fees will be added at time of payment in addition to the fee listed below.

If a swimmer is participating in another sanctioned school sport that prevents them from starting with the Fox Valley Wave at the start of the swim season, fees will be prorated for no more than 1/3 of the full season rate. Requests to prorate fees must be made in writing (but can be submitted via the team website or email) DURING the registration process or the week prior. All High School Swimmers must register when registration opens to hold a spot on the team after the High School Swim Season. The fee is already prorated for you, and you do not have to send a request.
We do offer an installment payment option. The first payment will only be accepted through credit card payments made online, and any outstanding payments will be included at that time. The second installment due date is November 1, 2023, and the third installment is due January 1, 2024.
VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS
The Fox Valley Wave thrives due to the combined efforts of our coaches and parent volunteers to deliver our team mission. To continue to succeed, it is essential that each family volunteers their time before and during home meets as needed. Each family is expected to volunteer for a minimum of two slots at our home swim meet on December 15-16, 2023.
If you know you are unable to volunteer at the meet, opportunities to serve on the meet planning committee will be publicized, and you can fulfill your requirement in this manner. You will be required to track your time and have a board member verify your hours. If you cannot or will not volunteer, you will be charged a $200 fee, invoiced to your account following the last meet volunteer opportunity.
You will find additional clarification regarding these requirements as part of the registration process. Please read this section carefully.
FUNDRAISING FEE
Fees and money raised from our meets do not meet all our budgetary requirements. For this reason, we are requiring all swimmers to participate in fundraising. Fundraising requirements for Fall/Winter 2023-2024 will be $75 per swimmer. These fees will be billed to each swimmer’s account on November 1st, 2023. Participating in the Script Program is a way to help offset the fundraising fee.

During the first week of practice there will be a greeter at the following practices:
- Swells and Wavelets practice on Monday and Tuesday
- Breakers practice on Monday and Wednesday
This will be an informal time to answer any questions you may have about our team and the sport of swimming. If you are new to our team, but your swimmer has been placed into a different group than listed above, please reach out our education coordinator Katie Loken at [email protected] to set up a time to meet.
Finally, there will be a MANDATORY PARENT MEETING in September. Details will be posted in a later email and on the team website.
