Happy New Year to all the All-Stars representing Team Wisconsin!

What an exciting weekend we have coming up at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis.

We will be sending emails to families via the email addresses listed in your Wisconsin Swimming team unify account. If you need to add an additional email to that account, please do so now.

If you haven't already done so, please review your swimmers events and relays for the weekend. The All-Star experience is unique in the sense that swimmers did not select their events, but instead they applied and were selected to be on the team and compete in events that helped create the best possible lineup for Team Wisconsin.

Here is a quick overview of the weekend:

Friday, January 5:
6:30 PM - Arrive at the pool. Pick up team gear and meet the coaches.
7:00-8:00 PM - Team warm-up in the pool. We realize that not all swimmers will be able to attend, but hope we can gather most of Team Wisconsin.

Saturday, January 6:
8:45 AM - Arrive at the pool. Gear pick-up for those who couldn't make it yesterday.
9:15 AM - Team Photo, Athlete Meet & Greet Time for Team Wisconsin.
10:00-11:15 AM - Warm-up in North Poo (scoreboard end), Lanes 1 & 2
11:30 AM - Opening Ceremonies: All Swimmers wear Team Sweatshirt for Parade.
11:45 AM - Meet Starts

Sunday, January 7:
7:15 AM - Arrive at pool.
7:30 AM - Warm-up in South Pool (diving well end), Lanes 1 & 2
8:40 AM - Meet Start

Gear:
Each swimmer will get 1 sweatshirt and 1 swim cap. We will not have extras to sell, so please be sure to keep track of what you are given at gear pick-up.

If for any reason we need to remove a swimmer from the meet, please contact me as soon as possible so we can make necessary changes.

If you need to reach me, my email is  [email protected]

Thanks,
Coach Melissa Springer,
Mid-States All Star Head Coach, Wisconsin Swimming

THE DATE:

January 6-7, 2024

TEAM WI COACHING STAFF:

THE MEET:

The Mid States Championship meet is a Team Wisconsin Selection meet for swimmers ages 14 & Under.  Unlike the summer Central Zone Championships where any athlete with a qualifying time can enter the meet, participation in this meet is set by a selection process.

QUALIFYING TIMES & QUALIFICATION PERIOD:

Registration will open November 1st.

A swimmer may apply to be a member of Team Wisconsin provided they

  1. Achieved at least one USA "A" Motivational time at a sanctioned or high school competition between January 1st, 2023 and the meet entry deadline of Monday, December 11th 2023.
  2. Are a member of USA Swimming in good standing and registered as a member of the Wisconsin LSC

NOTE: Boys currently in their freshman year of high school have been deemed ineligible to compete in this meet by the WIAA.  The words "All Star" in the meet disqualify them from being able to compete, as it's not a meet eligible for everyone.

SELECTION PROCESS:

  1. Following the entry deadline, a top times list will be sent to each applicant in order to verify all top times are correct (Estimated 12/13).  Please note that only times achieved AFTER 1/1/2023 will be used.
  2. Families will have 48 hours to approve their swimmer's times or notify staff of any necessary changes.
  3. After 48 hours (estimated 12/15), the coaching staff & admin will make an initial roster based on the top 4 of all individual events.  Swimmers may have as many as 6 events for the meet and as few as 1.  As swimmers accept/decline their invitations, swimmers may be added into additional swims.  After the first day of changes & additions, no new athletes will be invited and entries will be added to the existing roster in order to fill their event schedule.
  4. By 12/18, the roster, individual events, and relays will be finalized.  A&B relays will be determined from the eligible athletes participating in each day of the meet.
