Matt  is curently the head men’s and women’s water polo coach and Aquatics Director at CSU Maritime Academy. He has been coach at CCU since 2014. He has coached the 16U prgram in 2015 and had been the 18U head coach since 2016. His 18U teams have placed 7th at the 2018 National JO Championships and 3rd in 2019 and 1st in 2021.  Matt  played his high school waterpolo at Campolindo High School, then played at DVC before finishing his collegiate career ar Pepperdine as a four time All-American. He then played on the USA Mens national team until 2018.  Matt  also played professionally in Europe in Budva, Montenegro, then Bogliasco, Italy for 4 years.

Jack has been coaching at CCU since he graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 2018. He played club water polo at Cal Poly and also spent two years as the head coach of the women’s club team.  After earning his degree he returned home and played two more seasons for DVC under head coach  Matt  Detrane. Aside from coaching polo, Jack runs Aqua Strength Performance, his strength training business, where he works with many of the CCU athletes and other water polo players and swimmers in the area to improve their overall health and performance.
 

Tor has coached for CCU since 2012, and became 12U Program Director in 2016. He graduated from University of California Santa Barbara where he was a 4-year player on the Division I water polo team, and an MPSF Academic All-American.Tor has coached three teams to a top five finish at Junior Olympics, and was awarded the Pacific Zone Ted Newland Distinguished Coaching Award in 2021.

Brodie  joined the CCU coaching staff in 2012 and is the Boys 14u Head Coach.  He has coached at the high school level for the Campolindo, Acalanes and Monte Vista coaching staffs and is currently the Berkeley High Boys Varsity Head Coach.  Since 2015 he has coached with the USA Water Polo Olympic Development Program (ODP) in the Pacific Zone as a Cadet Assistant and Head Coach.  Currently he is an Assistant Coach with the Cadet National Team.  In 2019 he was the Pacific and National recipient of the Ted Newland Distinguished Coach award.

Tor has coached for CCU since 2012, and became 12U Program Director in 2016. Hannah has coached for CCU since 2019, and launched the 12U girls team in 2022. She is deeply committed to the youth of our community as a Stanley Middle School teacher and CC United coach. Previously, she coached at Thousand Oaks High School for two years as head JV coach and assistant Varsity coach. Hannah played Division III water polo at California Lutheran University where she earned SCIAC Academic All-American.

Ross has been involved with water polo in the East Bay Area for the past 20 years. His playing career began at East Bay Water Polo in 2003 and continued at 680 and Las Lomas High School, where he was a 3-year letterwinner in both water polo and swimming, earning all-league honors while captaining the team his senior year. 

Ross has coached water polo across the age-group and high school levels since 2014. He has led multiple 10U teams to top-ten finishes at Junior Olympics, which included guiding the 2023 CCU 10U Coed team to a 4th place finish, the highest finish among all teams in Northern California. 

Ross is passionate about growing the sport of water polo in the East Bay and he makes it his mission each season to instill values within all members of the CCU 10U community that will make them both better players and better people.

Lauren is currently finishing up her Masters Degree in Education after spending a year in England playing water polo and studying at Durham University. She was named Player of the Game for the British University and Colleges Sports (BUCS) Championship game last year and led the team to an undefeated season. Lauren coached the CCU 10U girls team in the summer of 2022, after she graduated from Stanford University. Lauren played on the womens team, winning two national championships in 2019 & 2022. She attended Monte Vista High School and played for Diablo Alliance Club while growing up in the Bay Area

Kirk founded CC United Water Polo in 2010 to help expand water polo in the East Bay, to emphasize character deveopment, and offer opportunity for multi-sport athletes to participate and focused athletes to achieve their maximum athletic potential. He continues to be involved with 12U Boys and 16U Boys program.
