Brent Boock Head Coach - S I Lead Coach

Coach Boock started as a member of the Elmbrook coaching staff in 1993. At Elmbrook he has enjoyed working with hundreds of swimmers striving to reach their full potential including many state champions, zone level swimmers, and national top 16 swimmers. Coach Boock enjoys running, biking, swimming and leading an active life.

Matthew Gardner S II & Masters - Lead Coach

Matt grew up in Waukesha swimming for the Waukesha Express swim team.  He swam for Waukesha South High School from 1990-1994. He then went on to swim at UW-Milwaukee, where he was a team captain and conference champion. He graduated from UWM with a degree in early childhood education.  In 2000 Matt helped coached UWM to a conference championship. 

After he graduated, Matt started coaching club swimming at Waukesha Express. In 2001 he moved to Saint Louis to coach with the Rockwood Swim Club. There he was the Assistant National team coach and head Age Group coach.  He also ran the Swim America program in St. Louis.  The last few years he has been helping both the Waukesha North/KM and Waukesha South High School girls swim team.

In 2010 he started doing triathlons, competing in his first Ironman in Madison in 2011. Since then Matt has competed in 7 Ironman’s, Age group swimming nationals, Qualifying for Age group worlds, and competed in the 2018 Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon.  In 2017 Matt decided to share his love for cycling and use his coaching background to open up his own indoor cycling studio in Hartland (Bicycle Barn) and help train cyclist and triathletes during the winters.

Matt currently lives in Waukesha with his wife, Stacy and 2 daughters, Makenna & Keira.  His oldest daughter, Makenna, will be attending Michigan State University in the fall of 2023, pursuing a degree in Nursing.  His youngest daughter, Keira, is a student at Waukesha South's Engineering Academy.  When he's not coaching, training or golfing, Matt enjoys spending time with friends and family- and loves to travel.

Carissa Donkersgoed S III&IV - Lead Coach

Carissa began coaching in 2014 for EBSC where she swam for 13 years, competing at the state and national level. She swam for Brookfield Central and at UW- La Crosse. 

Carissa works at Brookfield Central in the Athletic Department and also coaches Brookfield Central Girls' Swim & Dive. 

Michael Rose A I&II - Lead Coach

Mike has been with EBSC in various capacities for a LONG time.  As a swimmer (1974-76), coaching round 1 (AG and Senior 1982-86), parent (2003-15), coaching round 2 (AGT 2005-14, AG 2014 to the present). Mike has also coached the high school teams at Brookfield East (Boys 1983 to 1997, Girls 1985 to the present) and a bit at Brookfield Central.  During that time, he has coached many state champions, All American’s and top national club swimmers.  Many of his former swimmers are current EBSC parents!

In addition to coaching Mike taught at Math at Brookfield East from 1993 to 2018 and currently teaches part-time after retiring from East.

Mike is married to Carol (the girls diving coach).  They have 4 kids who all swam for EBSC from novice through Junior Nationals with a couple of 4 year college swimmers.

Katie Rasoul T I&II - Lead Coach

Katie began coaching for EBSC in 2023, and coaches the AGT group. She grew up swimming for Southeastern Aquatics and Horlick High School teams in Racine, Wisconsin, as well as teaching swimming and leading youth camps. By day, Katie is a leadership coach, keynote speaker and author with her own company, Team Awesome.

Katie lives in Brookfield with her husband and two children (a gator and a future gator). In her spare time she enjoys running, Peloton rides, cheering on the sideline and of course, swimming.

Daniel Westfahl N I&II - Lead Coach

Danny Westfahl has been affiliated with the Elmbrook Swim Club as a coach, parent and official since 1993. He loves working with our youngest swimmers on the Novice team, helping them to love the sport and prepare for success at our upper levels. He is a lifelong educator, serving as a teacher, principal, and director of instruction in various school districts in the Milwaukee area. Danny is the proud father of three amazing girls, Maddie, Livie, and Molle, all of whom have spent time in the water with the Gators. Danny and his wife, Deb, enjoy spending time with their pets, Georgia and Starbuck in Menomonee Falls. 

 

Tracey Plate S III - Assistant Coach

Tracey has been with the swim club in different capacities since 2011 when the oldest of her two daughters joined the club.  She is an assistant coach for the Senior 2 level training group. She currently works at Brookfield Central HS as a special ed assistant. Tracey enjoys the outdoors with her husband Jeff and the girls, hiking, and camping in their Airstream.
 

 
Jillian Schemenauer S III&IV - Assistant Coach

Hello! My name is Jillian and I’m one of the coaches for AGT! This is my first year with EBSC, but I swam competitively for 13 years at the club and high school level. I’m currently a doctoral candidate in my fourth year of the Communication Ph.D. program at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Outside of school and coaching, I enjoy reading, going on long walks with my dog Winston, and spending time with family and friends!

Anne Leupold A I&II - Assistant Coach

Anne is an elementary teacher and currently teaches 4th grade at St. Margaret Mary School in Milwaukee.  She swam for EBSC competitively from age seven through her senior year of high school.   She graduated from Brookfield East High School and swam on the Varsity team for all four years.   In college, she swam on the UW-Whitewater swim and dive team for four years, ending her career as a senior captain for the team in 2013. She also was a lifeguard and swim lesson supervisor at the Wiberg Aquatic Center. She has been coaching for Elmbrook for about 7 years, primarily working with the Age Group team. On her off time, Anne enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, or catching up on her favorite shows! 

Kristen Malloy N I&II - Assistant Coach

Kristen began coaching for EBSC in 2005.  She swam for Elmbrook, Brookfield Central High School, and St. Norbert College.  Kristen is a Title I math and reading teacher at Eastbrook Academy in Milwaukee.  She is married and has two children, Jonathan and Samantha.

 

Zoe Hawthorne N I&II - Assistant Coach

Hi everyone I am Zoe Hawthorne. I grew up in Wauwatosa, I have been swimming as long as I can remember. I just graduated from the University of Wisconsin Whitewater with a degree in Elementary education and a minor in special education. I am currently teaching 5th grade at Wauwatosa Catholic school. I am love working with kids and I am so happy to be back on deck :)

Claire Flatley Assistant Coach

Hello! My name is Claire and I primarily work with the S4 and S3 groups. I swam with EBSC for nine years competing and the state and national level. I graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Psychology and am now pursuing a Master’s degree in Social Work at UW-Milwaukee. In my free time I like hiking, spending time with family, and playing with my bunnies.

Alexia Monty Assistant Coach
I am excited to be working with Novice and AGT. I started swimming at the age of 5, for New London Aquatics club. Then moved to Appleton and swam for Fox Cities YMCA from ages 10-18. In high school I swam for Appleton North.  From there I went and swam for a year at Delta State, in Mississippi. I redshirted my second year due to injury and transferred to St. Cloud State, in Minnesota. I swam for their program for my final three years of school and graduated in 2021 with a degree in Biomedical Science. Now I am in Pharmacy school at Medical College of Wisconsin going for my Doctor of Pharmacy. In my free time I continue to swim, for EBSCs master’s program and spend any extra time reading.
Peter Nowak Assistant Coach
Peter grew up in New Berlin and started off swimming for New Berlin Swim Club, where he later transferred in the mid-90s to EBSC.  During high school, he swam for Eisenhower, and in college swam for UW - Stevens Point from 2000 - 2004.  After returning from college he continued his athletic career as a Master Swimmer for EBSC and completed three Ironmans.
 
He started his coaching career during his 5th year of college coaching his former team.  After returning from college he started coaching at EBSC from 2005 - 2011 primarily helping the Senior program.  He took a break from coaching to start a family and is now back on the pool deck.
 
Peter currently lives in New Berlin with his wife Krista and two kids Jakob and Alison who are both EBSC swimmers.
Shannon Smith Dryland & Strength Coach
Shannon wrestled, ran cross country, and track in High School and college.  After graduation from Monmouth College, he worked in food services as a manager and Chef.  Shannon coached wrestling along the way for 10 years at the middle school level.  Best experience was being a Chef for the Indianapolis Colts for several years.  After 25 years in food it was time for a change, and Shannon became a personal trainer.  For the last 5 years Shannon has worked as a trainer at LifeTime.  Shannon enjoys working with people of all ages to meet their individual fitness goals, specializing in VO2 max testing, powerlifting, and exercise for sport specific needs.
 
Shannon is married to Shelly and has two kids, Caleb and Maya, both swimming with EBSC.
